I will be watching as well
What is that handle on the passenger side?

Are you planning a true restoration, or a cool rebuild?

N'oubliez pas que nous aimons beaucoup les photo :D

The frame looks later-at least 75. What's the story there?

Is Fabien helping with the body work?

how can i see if the frame was from post 75 ?

You should find a frame id number on the front passanger outside of the frame. Compare it to the frame numbers in the FAQ.

Round holes in the frame for the round rear lights, but maybe they did sell a different style frame in europe.......with Toyota......you never know.
Got the frame number??

Some Pics are here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/89817-1964-fj40-build.html

If you look at the tire threads you will see that the frame under the picture is not the frame that belongs to the vehicle...........wtf??
Save these pics!!!

"Round holes in the frame for the round rear lights"

"You should find a frame id number on the front passanger outside of the frame"

Sharing knowledge is a good thing, but only if you have it....

The rear of the frame after 75 had the square cut outs for the rear lights. Prior to that, there were no cut outs and the frame rear member was shorter.

I am certain that is a later frame, not a frame from 1964.

Looking forward to the build, and nice PTO winch.

i'm sure that if it's new frame, it's not a big problem :)
i don't think there is big differences between a 1964 frame and a 1974 .
no ?

Correct.

Pedestal for the steering gearbox is different but from the pictures it appears that has been addressed. You have a later model steering wheel and gear box.

The frame i d number is on the front outside rail on the driver's side.

You can track down the build year through various search threads.

there was a 3 speed gearboxes on this fj40, but it brakes, so now they put a 4 speed...
i think that the frame is from maybe 197x yes, because of the winch, but i'll take a look on the frame number yes !, of course...even if for me it's not a big big problem :)

body seems nice ! :), 'll be a good restoration i think. even if it's not completly original !

This is not correct. Please verify your facts before sharing.

The frame VIN number is on the outside of the RIGHT front frame rail, just behind the front bumper, also known as the passenger side of a LHD vehicle. Your comment would only be correct if you were talking about a RHD vehicle, which obviously this 40 is not.
