Hey guys,

Any advice on sourcing a solid/refurbished driver side upper door hinge? Part # 68710-90351. Mine works but it's getting worn out. Specter Off Road has a refurbished one for a small fortune. Just wanted to check with the group before hitting my 401k for this thing.

Thanks!

Hank

Had same issues with mine. Member by the handle name Midgainc refurbished mine and some other members door hinges but that was approximately 3 years ago....

Price was reasonable; work was quality.

Good luck

Let me do some digging, I rebuilt mine using new brass bushings. It's not a big deal doing it. I'll get back with you.

the upper hinges are easyish enough using various bushings- I used GM pin and bushing set on my upper... the lower I never did. I am still hoping to contract a refurbbed set someday...

Napa sells a bushing and hinge kit as well. You'll have to slightly drill out the hinges to accept the larger diameter pins. If your interested, I can try and track down the part number.

Man you guys never disappoint with the quality info, so far down my list it ain’t funny but great reference!

Thank you!

I did a google search for that part number now and a few weeks ago and nothing comes up from napa. Is that Part discontinued?

You too! Thinking about the hinges, I rebuilt mine using some FJ40 hinge bushings I bought from a MUD member and reused the 55 pins.
Scrapdaddy, How do you feel they turned out with the fj40 bushings? I did a few of mine with the Napa part but can't find it again and need to do my drivers door hinge.

Two of these for each hinge you want to rebuild,
McMaster-Carr

One pack of these.

Easy peasy..
Quick question, was there a reason you didn't reuse your pins with these bushings?

Also, general question for anyone that has done this themselves, can you get the original pins out with a proper size drift punch or do you need to press them out? I have read all 3 threads on this topic and I know many have successfully removed these without damage - just not a lot of information on how.

Pretty sure that @Midgainc is no longer repairing hinges and I can't say that I blame him considering what a niche market we are. However, I need to do something in the next couple of months as I need to rebuild all of my hinges while the body is in the shop.
