Someone needs to call advance adapter to prototype and build an adapter to install an atlas to our tranny’s and replace the 2.blah.

I would actually pay $2400 for an atlas 5.0 and $400 for an adapter for the 442 or 343.

Common let’s get a group together to have advance adapter build us an adapter.

@jcardona1 be our rep.

I talked to the guys at AA about this some time ago and the answer I got was there isnt enough demand to R & D a tcase for us.... Granted that was a few years ago but it would be nice to have that option

On the North West Fabworks website there is a Doubler that is compatible with Land Cruisers. It’s called the BlackBox-c and has options to mate to many different models including 80 series.

While I'm using it as my tcase adapter, my Black Box C delivered fresh from Canada today. It's real.

But, since these aren't exactly flying off the shelf, they are already working on a doubler that will attach to the back of the tcase and shouldn't require fuel tank mods.

Is this for the A343? I'm still not convinced it's real!

Nope. GM 6l80e, my 1fz was way too tired to spend that kind of coin and leave that motor in. But the A343 and A442f adapters exist, I talked with Kris for quite some time about them when I placed my order.

the doubler on the back of the case has been done. Mark’s used to have a 3:1 doubler on the back of the case. @sleeoffroad can correct me if I am wrong but they ran it on ultimate adventure a decade ago and I believe couldn’t keep it cool?

Yup, they are doing something similar since the Mark's hasn't been available for years. With no fuel tank mods required is the goal

Coming to an 80 near you, Summer 2028.

I called them yesterday and left a vmail and they haven't called back yet. I might get the 1fz a343 blackboxc adapter if it's not crazy hard to mod the gas tank. Actually I can probably pick up a donor gas tank this weekend and start mocking up a slice. Ideally I need to visualize how much room it actually interfers with the tank so I have a better idea if it's a job I want to tackle. If its minimal interference. I would much rather BFH it in or maybe press it in with a press or a hydraulic jack.

Its listed at 1500 + 100 ship on the website. Really not that bad and cheaper then the Marks. The biggest thing that would deter people is the gas tank mod. But if theres a clear writeup and pictures I'm sure it will put more people at ease the number of :banana:job it is.

Is it the Tcase contact or the speedo contact? On mine if speedo comes off I can come back about 8 inches. (Have a 97 Lx450.)

Not 100% sure. Eyeballing it... the sensor is def. in the way. Maybe the case itself. I just had the dam tcase and trans out for both my 80s less than a year ago and would have mocked it up better if I knew an actual doubler sort or existed.

Not sure what the big deal is about modifying the gas tank.
literally every 4x4 ford van had it's gas tank cut down to install the transfer case for the conversion, tens of thousands of them 🤷‍♂️ Just saying, not that big of a deal!!

I don't get it either, but apparently that's still a major hangup.

In NWF's defense on this product, I don't think they ever had a whole truck to use for mock up. Booger helped drive this, and they built it using only a trans and tcase, and some measurements sent to them. The people making the most noise definitely weren't afraid of some mods to use it, but at the same time it was only a very small handful of us making that noise. And it took FOREVER to get to market. Booger has probably built and sold 8 different rigs in the 7 years this has been in the works, I killed/wore out my 1fz, and many others just invested in the tcase gears and decided that's good enough. If you are willing to figure out the install yourself and make whatever mods needed, it's there to order.

While I know my install won't be typical, I'll document what I can and try to answer whatever questions anyone has. We will definitely find out how strong these tcase outputs really are, real quick. Between the 4.11 first gear in the 6l80, the marlin crawler tcase gears, and the black box, they are gonna be under some stress.

I'm definitely still interested in the doubler, but there are two major hangups for me which is why I haven't moved forward:

1. I have relinked the rear of my truck since all this started and I'm running a custom crossmember right behind the tcase and under the gas tank. I would need to see this installed in an 80 to verify some measurements. If it won't clear this crossmember, it's a non-starter for me because I'm not redoing my rear suspension.

2. The fact that NWF acknowledges their black boxes aren't meant for street-driven and make no mention of this on their website or prior to purchase. And they acknowledge that in order to be installed on a street-driven rig, the case needs an external oil reservoir and additional cooling. Both of which they do not mention and make no provisions for on the case, you need to drill and tap yourself. Honestly the way NWF goes about their business is very off-putting. A lot of this could be resolved and avoided with a simple tech article on their website. You have to find out yourself via the forums. Now that has me concerned if it's not meant for street driven trucks. I don't daily my 80 and it's a solely drive to the trails and back. If it can't handle a drive to say Moab, Hurricane, Johnsons Valley. Then it's not in my future if that's the case. I'm not looking for it to drive 30k a year daily on it.

I agree with the tech article. They need some sort of info/FAQ/etc,

@spyduh They came out with a 2nd gen BB last year that has nearly double the fluid capacity. External dimensions are the same. Still too new to tell though.

The second Gen has double the capacity, which is the one I have. There actually are other oiling options, sometimes it just takes out of the box thinking. I have a friend locally who runs one, and oils his the same way I will be. No front seal back to the transmission, and the return line from the trans cooler t'd with it running to one of the ports on the black box. Cool ATF will pump to the black box from the cooler and spill out around the input shaft and back into the transmission. Now, I'm not 100% sure this would work for a 442 or 343, but it's a viable option to explore. Local buddy with an ecobox in his fullsize drives his rig everywhere, including UA2020 this past year with no issues lubed this way. The issue of running gear lube only has been solved, you can spec your thrust washers for either lubricant.

Here it is unboxed. You have vent, fill, and drain ports already tapped, easy to adapt for either a pump or to feed it with ATF. Looking forward to tearing the tcase down to get that mainshaft installed.

Few install highlights. You CAN swap the mainshaft without tearing the tcase down. Though to be honest, I probably would just tear down the tcase if I were to do it again. Goes together pretty smoothly all together, and comparing to the older version, this definitely has a ton more fluid capacity. I know they say double, but it almost looks more than that. And I missed another drain port down low. You have the vent, plus three additional threaded ports to work with.
