Slacker24-7 is your guy! See post # 9 above and PM him. He has a parts rig and can most likely sell you a dome light assembly.

I am very cool with the hijack, interesting topic.

I noticed that my luggage compartment light is toast two, both the same way. Looks like heat from the bulb caused the lens to get brittle and fail. I don't suppose that one is the same as anything in the camry. Do the LEDs put out less heat? I thought they did, but I'm not sure.

I am curious why one would chose a 6 LED bulb style LED over a 20 LED wafer. I mean these 20 LED wafers turn night to day, the installation is simple, are the bulb style LED's superior in some way.

I think we have hijacked this thread pretty badly, hope the OP is cool with it. :o

basically - yes the hi output ones are *typically* superior to the typical LED.

A nice thing about superbrightleds is they give you info:

4210-CWHP6 Cool White 8~30 165 66 lm 7000K 120
Model - color - voltage range - amps - lumens - color temp - beam pattern.

66 lumens for the 6 hi output w/ 120* beam pattern.

vs another from superbright with your more typical LED bulbs (more like what i think you are showing)
pcb_led_t10_base.jpg
(bottom is regular led - 48 lumen, top is 9 hi output led - 90-120 lumen in comparison) Base doesn't really matter - just to compare.

and it's info:
1156-PCB-W24 Cool White 9~14.8 102 48 8300 15/100
Model - color - voltage range - amps - lumens - color temp - beam pattern.
(48 lumens w/ 24 bulbs - 15-100* beam pattern)

Yes - less heat for sure. less draw as well (linked with heat) - nice benefit is if you accidentally leave the dome or cargo light on - you likely won't have a dead battery. bonus. nearly never need to be changed, WAY brighter, etc.

i'd definitely research a good high output LED. George's task LEDs are nice, but $$ (30'ish last time i bought one). An equivalent (actually superior in brightness) at a fraction of the cost can be found from several online places. I recommend superbrightleds simply because they give you all the dimensions, voltage ranges (think diesel cruisers), lumens (how bright) and beam pattern.

no affiliation - if you find another site that does the same - go for it!

I'm a self proclaimed LED geek - from headlamps, to upgraded bulbs in my cruiser...

sent an email to "george" a few days ago and he's no longer making the dome light leds..

"Hi David,
sorry, but I stopped making dome modules late last year.
cheers,
george."

I'd recommend the superbrightleds.com LEDs over the ebay ones. I like the high output 4 and 6 LED models.

6 can be a bit tough to fit, but worth it in the back for sure! I did the 2 bulb LED in my dome, but plan on swapping in the 6 eventually for even more light. Absolutely amazing improvement for both the dome and cargo lights!

I have specific model info in my LED thread in sig.

HTH!

I second this. George's LEDs were a significant upgrade over an incandescent bulb, but the Superbright one is even better. Brighter'n hell, and very clean whige light. Got it in my cargo and my dome lights.

I got the 6 LED assembly and managed to squeeze it in. You end up compressing the end contacts a bit, but it can work. It's very tight, yesh, tight like a tiger.
