So I installed the 45mm Dobinsons springs and with 31s the front is 36” and the rear is 35” from the floor to the bottom of the fender opening.

Did you install stock shackles or lift shackles?

Are Alcans that much superior? I was quoted right around $650 for just the rear leaf springs from them. Opinions appreciated👍

Alcans are good, if and only if you know exactly what your rig weighs (or will weigh) front and rear. They don't have anything off the shelf; every spring set is custom made for the lift and weight that you specify.

Are you running stock length shackles and how do you like the ride? Thanks again.

Also how is the stance of the vehicle, could you post up a pic? Maybe @crikeymike may chime in as well. Thanks.

I've been reading along. Do you have a question for me? Seemed like more of a comparative discussion so far. The info on the Alcans is good to know.

Hey how are you? I do have a question, can I still use my 0-2” lift compatible Bilsteins if I go the Dobinsons route. Says their springs are a 45mm or 1.75” lift for us Yanks. Thanks👍

Good thanks!!

Sure, any shock that's rated to the same lift height as the leaf springs will work.

0 - 2” Bilsteins on mine with the 45mm Dobinsons and 31” tires.
I am running the same shocks and 31 tires as well.

By the info you provided me my rear is sitting exactly at stock ride height, front is just a tiny under 1 inch above stock ride height.

If the front springs could be “compressed” by one inch it would be perfect.

Considering the springs you have installed. With your amount of lift, 45mm or approx 1.75” is it possible to run 33” tires? I am running 31’s presently and will probably stay with that size but just curious. Also how do you like the ride quality of the 45mm leaf springs. Thanks.

I’d say no problem running 33’s. I think the ride quality is much improved, no longer like a damn forklift.
I like the “forklift” reference. I had mixed results with the re-arch. I also do feel the old springs are tired and time for some new ones. I wanted to keep stock ride height, but the Dobinsons are the closest to stock height without going the spendy route with Alcans. As I have much to do on the ‘76 and will be posting a build thread as well in the future I am going to go the Dobinsons route. Any chance you may have part numbers for what you put on yours? I am looking for stock load springs for best ride possible. Thanks again👍
