Got the crane hook off and the FlatLink on- very clean and inconspicuous.

Thanks for the reply. I do under stand your concerns. But while this is my first bumper for the 100 series it is not my first bumper build. There is a very fine line in strong enough and over built. Also a fine line in giving the protection needed for these bigger vehicles and not. There are several reasons for the wings to stick out like they do, (about 2") I built this bumper right before a trail run I did back in August. There was one tight spot where if the bumper was not where it was my fender would have been trashed. Also I wanted the grill guard to rap around like it does. I do also plan on adding a tube around the front fenders so it sets me up well for that. I will certainly see if I have room to tuck it tighter and still get the protection I feel is needed. As for the shackle mounts, I'm not sure if you can tell from the pics but there is 1/4 wall dom sleeve welded through and then the strap that raps the grill guard is rapped around the sleeve. That being said I will have to change the design to accommodate the bumper with or without the grill guard. My bumper was designed around the grill guard. I'm planing on using 3/8 for the main bracket coming off the frame and that will go through the front for the shackle mounts. Here are a few pics of other stuff I have built just so you know this isn't my first.View attachment 1003465View attachment 1003466View attachment 1003467View attachment 1003469View attachment 1003470

I want one like in the second pic, tube style, can you build one?

I got the Smittybilt 12000 x2o to go in my bumper. I don't like the placement of the control hook up on the solenoid when it's side mounted with the brackets that came with it.

Could some of you that have the same winch share how you mounted the solenoid box?

I've considered fabricating a bracket that will mount it with the control connection pointing forward instead of to the side but that will require removing the entire bumper.

For those of you wondering about how the bumper does with a winch pull, I got to try it out yesterday. Not a super tough pull, but the bumper handled it like a champ.

For those that are curious, I have a SuperWinch Talon 12.5k. Control box is mounted between the grill and radiator.

@revoked Can you show me how you mounted your control box? I need to mount mine and been wondering where I should.

What is your issue with it? Just curious. Mine is mounted on the side with the supplied brackets. It's easy to get to, can still plug in the wired cable if your remote control batteries die.

Will take pic when I get home.

With the Warn 9.5ti, it was a little tight in the bumper. But, I think mounting it behind the grille and higher, worked out well.

The guys at ACC moved the horn and fab'ed a bracket to hold the box.

That looks like a pretty tough pull, actually - 12-18" of mud is sticky stuff.

My issue with my Smittybilt is the plug is pointing straight at my fog light opening. It was difficult getting it lined up and plugged in with no fog lights in. If I can spin it 90* so the plug is pointing forward it would be easily accessible through the main bumper's access hole.

Looking through the main access:

Just a heads up to everyone running this bumper! I just looked at this pic and remember now I have to replace those 4 black oxide allen head bolts w stainless ones. Mine are pretty rusted after 1 year in place!
I'm not in any way bashing Ben's stuff! I just always knew those would not last and kept putting off on replacing them till the other day when doing something in there and noticed how things were! If it stays it will pass to the bumper steel!
This is for the guide bolts.

I have recently went stainless on those as well. Those were supposed to be black zinc but they must have sent me the black oxide.
Thanks for the heads up.

For the ones who had to powder coat their bumpers themselves, did you guys powder coat each piece individually or as one piece? I was going to get each piece painted individually but after putting it together, sliding those wings on without paint, it's a tight fit. So I plan on doing it as one piece. Is this how you guys did it?

I don't have the smitty built but I did fab a bracket to remote mount my solenoid box just behind the grill and hanging from the radiator brace the horns are attached to. It just fits with out hitting the grill.

@SALTY METHODS... my bumper was powder coated unassembled, right down to the nuts, bolts and washers (they were done in satin black)
