2000 LX470. I'm deciding between the ARB Bull Bar and the Dissent Ultra High Clearance bumper. I like the Dissent better, but their site says they don't have the bull bar attachment for the LX. When I look at the ARB it seems that the Bull Bar bumper is only made for the 03-07 LX. Does anyone know if the ARB Bull Bar will work on a 2000 LX, or if the Dissent bull bar attachment will fit on the LX (or if they are working on making one)? I've searched and can't seem to find a definitive answer. If anyone has a 98-02 LX with either one of these installed I'd love to see pictures. Thanks!

I believe the ARB will require cutting off the antenna mount on it to fit the LX grill past it - there's some existing threads on here.

One other thing to think about - I don't believe the Dissent bumper utilizes crash cans/crumple zones. The ARB does.

That may not be a big deal for you, but as someone who has put a lot of money (and time) into restoring my LX, I'd hate to total it due to frame damage in an accident.

Again, maybe not a big factor for you, but sometime I've considered.

The '03 ARB combo bar will fit all IFS '98-'07 100's.
All installs require trimming of the frame horn tabs.
Installation on LX's also require the removal of the upper, antenna tabs.

Simple as that.

OK that's good to know. I know the ARB is heavier, and I don't plan on removing the AHC, but from what I've read I think it'll still be ok.

I don't think that "airbag compatible" means much except that it won't interfere with the discharging of airbags.

The airbags are set off when the deceleration of the vehicle exceeds a certain set limit. Steel bumpers don't change the function of the airbag system -- although the vehicle may decelerate slightly more abruptly because there is less deformation of the bumper due to absorption of collision force. The greater the impact, the more negligible this difference in deceleration.

I hadn't thought about that option. I'll keep it in mind.

It's really the ideal solution.

Think about it.

You get to own the Dissent, but ultimately put on the ARB. And I don't have to pay for a Dissent.

Brilliant!

As long as I can apply the same deal, and you buy a set of Volk TEs and I’ll buy some Methods, and then we swap. It’s a win win all the way around!

ARB Sahara (no top tube) or ARB Deluxe (has top tube) for the 100 was something I considered (I’ve been an ARB guy since 2010). But my long term plan for my LX is keep the AHC, that means weight is my #1 challenge, bumper + lights + winch.

Dissent aluminum front overall weight is half of ARB Sahara (steel). Dissent is also shorter / not as protruding like the any of the two ARB bumper models. Can have ARB instantly vs. with Dissent the wait is 4 months (if you’re lucky - mine took 6.5) before you get it.

Sadly, Dissent hasn't made any aluminum bumpers in over a year due to supply/cost issues. Their steel bumper doesn't weigh much more than the aluminum version, though.
