Damn... you are moving at the speed of light! Keep it up!

I want this done man! Just couldn't look at a pile of parts any longer and hate to see my truck on jackstands. Makes me feel like a redneck :hillbilly: and I live in nice neighborhood.

sorry for the stupid question but what is SOA?

SOA - Spring Over Axle. The spring pack is attached to the top of the axle housing. The stock configuration is SUA - Spring Under Axle. With stock springs it gives a 6 - 7" lift and also increases flexibility. So there is lift without increased stiffness in the ride that you get from lifted spring packs. But the springs tend to wear out faster in the SOA configuration.

Thanks Dylan,

Just couldn't handle going to another TLCA event on 33's. My wife was starting to make fun of me and my little tires.

Hope to wrap it up soon but need to maintain a relationship with my boys and keep the marriage happy ;)

thanks man!

I did get your pm and am sorry I did not reply. I am a jackass. At any rate congrats to you man but take your wife for a drive on a bumpy road a week or so before McGrew ;)

The bumper is yours when you want it. If you decide to take a road trip up north before fire season I would host you and help you mount it up.

We're doing fine up here thanks. Wish the snow would go though.
Yep, your gonna love the SOA, whole different truck.
We're planning on Rubithon next year, but might be persuaded to do Moab as well:grinpimp:

Regards to the family,
Dave

Thanks Matt.

I don't think I will have any problems keeping up at Rubithon :p

I am expecting to be pleasantly surprised at how well the truck wheels.

We will be welding on friday if you decide you want to head out to take a crack at the power mig 200. Just give me a call or I may call you this eve anyways.

Clint,
My wife makes fun of me too about my 33's. But in my case it's because I am on stock springs. :D Let me know if you need someone to take your safari kit off your hands. ;) I need to make it to an event to see your guy's rigs! Awesome things happening these days.

The lift is spoken for but I will put you in line. Please feel free to come out to a meeting to see the rigs and get to know people. third thursday every month at Busters BBQ on Barbur BLVD.

Indeed very good things going on with the club and local support.

No laughs here man (other than your fro) as I will more than likely be running them myself!

Got some more work on the truck today. Put the weight on the axles and re-measured. rear needed no adjustment and the front needed 1/2 degree on the drivers side after settling.

Pulled them out and welded. Sorry no pic of the rear but it looks like everyone elses.

Full weight, welded, and ubolts in:

Pulled front axle and welded in. Here is how we set it up:

Set axle level side to side and front to back with pinion angle set to 14 degrees:

001.jpg

Then measured side to side front to back at various points to set the pads:

Also took measurments from floor to pad. Most of the set up was done with the axle mounted to the leafs and then mounted to the truck. After the pads were measured on the floor. It sat overnight then full weight on it then everything was remeasured then welded. 1/2 degree is not bad but was corrected as it will make a difference on the highway at 70 mph.

Parts plile getting smaller:

Full weight on rear with 33's. Frame to ground measures 24 3/4" just aft of rear spring hanger:

I figure I have about 3 days left of front axle rebuild, steering, brakes, one diff rebuild with ARB, then flex it out at MetalTech for the shocks/ mounts.

Maybe end of next week? Don't hold me to it ;)

Feeling a bit like this: :bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2:

Coming right along. Very nice. Any pics of the shock mount? I want to see that RuffStuff mount in action as I may switch mine to that.

I will however re-evaluate once it is on the ground. If a call to driveline tech is in order then it is in order. Just hard to swallow $800 to $1000 for what he charges.

Clint

what the hell?!

800-1000 for drivelines?!!!

i had my rear drive shaft re tubed for under 150, and it was next day turn around. balancing was an additional 50 bux. so it woulda been 200 if i would have had it balanced.
