It’s definitely not H41. Different input axle, top cover etc.The third picture I don't recognise but look like an H41 which would fit with a BJ42 and 3B.

Thanks a lot guys giving me good advice, love this forum. That's a 3 speed J30. Throw that shiat in the trash.
Economy and reliability is the main concern for me.What's your goal with the swap? I have a lot of miles behind a 2B and an amc 258 (straight 6 gas). I like the economy and last bit of reliability on my B series when I'm far from home, but the gasser is far more enjoyable to drive imo.
Thanks for reply, I do have a H55 transmission and transfer case from 1PZ diesel engine but I am not sure if it will fit on 3B engine. The L series engine (2.2L) will be too small for the cruiser, they were slow in the hilux that had them fitted.
The gearbox behind the L series looks like an early 5 speed hilux box and transfer.
3B is a better option but still slow, look for a H55 5 speed to go behind it or a later 4 speed.
You'll need the clutch housing for a B engine (B, 3B etc) and the H55F will need a B engine input shaft, which is not easy to find. Thanks for reply, I do have a H55 transmission and transfer case from 1PZ diesel engine but I am not sure if it will fit on 3B engine.
The 1HZ input shaft is not long enough for the B clutch housing. That's why there are separate parts for each application. Thanks guys, the spline on the 1HZ is 21,same my 3B,I am hoping it will fit I will check the part number.
If you have an H41/42 transmission from a BJ4x, BJ6x or BJ7x, and it is the same type (early or late type) as the H55F, yes. But it's a big job to strip the gearbox down that far and you will need a good gear puller. Is it possible to remove input shaft from 4 speed transmission and install to 5 speed transmission.
Thanks, I do see if it is worth it, I do have tools to do the job.If you have an H41/42 transmission from a BJ4x, BJ6x or BJ7x, and it is the same type (early or late type) as the H55F, yes. But it's a big job to strip the gearbox down that far and you will need a good gear puller.
To identify an early or late type from the exterior you can look at the input shaft bearing retainer. The later type has two mouse-like ears towards the top of the retainer face. There are pictures and examples on this site.
So l have a H41 4 speed BJ42 and want to fit a H55 l should look for the same year box to swap over the input shaft? If you have an H41/42 transmission from a BJ4x, BJ6x or BJ7x, and it is the same type (early or late type) as the H55F, yes. It doesn't need to be the exact same year, but you'll be looking for a pre 10/85 or earlier gearbox. So l have a H41 4 speed BJ42 and want to fit a H55 l should look for the same year box to swap over the input shaft?
I have been looking for a cheap one to rebuild.
Mine is an 82 so assume that l need an early H55 5 speed.
Why can't l use a later 5speed?
