What's your goal with the swap? I have a lot of miles behind a 2B and an amc 258 (straight 6 gas). I like the economy and last bit of reliability on my B series when I'm far from home, but the gasser is far more enjoyable to drive imo.

The L series engine (2.2L) will be too small for the cruiser, they were slow in the hilux that had them fitted.
The gearbox behind the L series looks like an early 5 speed hilux box and transfer.
3B is a better option but still slow, look for a H55 5 speed to go behind it or a later 4 speed.

Thanks for reply, I do have a H55 transmission and transfer case from 1PZ diesel engine but I am not sure if it will fit on 3B engine.

@Richco the H55 came behind the 3B as well as the 1HZ but not sure if those input shafts are the same.
2H and 2F H55 use the same gearbox input shafts course spline but 3B has a fine spline.
1PZ is pretty much a 5cylinder 1HZ from what l have seen. you could check part numbers of both to see if they are the same?
If you have the bellhousing from the 1PZ H55 and can measure the length l can compare it to my 3B bellhousing, then you will know if it will work or not.

You'll need the clutch housing for a B engine (B, 3B etc) and the H55F will need a B engine input shaft, which is not easy to find.

Thanks guys, the spline on the 1HZ is 21,same my 3B,I am hoping it will fit I will check the part number.
The 1HZ input shaft is not long enough for the B clutch housing. That's why there are separate parts for each application.

Is it possible to remove input shaft from 4 speed transmission and install to 5 speed transmission.
If you have an H41/42 transmission from a BJ4x, BJ6x or BJ7x, and it is the same type (early or late type) as the H55F, yes. But it's a big job to strip the gearbox down that far and you will need a good gear puller.

To identify an early or late type from the exterior you can look at the input shaft bearing retainer. The later type has two mouse-like ears towards the top of the retainer face. There are pictures and examples on this site.
