Nissan is worried about global warming/climate change just as it accepted as B.S. Ha! But we digress from the thread. Don't forget to buy some gas for the truck.

ok put 8 gallons of gas in the tank, now I am gonna run down with fresh charged battery and see if it will start...

I am thinking, new pump :(
But we will see.

Just in case does anyone have a working fuel pump they can overnight to me that fits the 1964 fj40?

Thanks I will report soon.

ok here is the skinny

full charged battery, let it crank till it died...

little bit of fuel in the filter...
also when i used the hand prime lever on the fuel pump, it I felt resistance, ( like it wa kinda working )

So when i pull the hand primer up the fuel in the glass fuel filter when down... when i let the hand prime lever on the pump down, the fuel level when back up...

This working correctly?
no fuel was getting post pump ( prolly becuase there was not enough fluid pre-pump no? )

Should I charge the battery and try again?
Put more than 8 gallons of gas in the tank?

Or say fawk it and replace the pump?

Bill can you go ahead and send me your used pump?
I can paypal you or whatever ;)

I will PM my address.

Let me know what you think guys, I want this bad boy to run! :D

Have you poured a little gas in the carb to see if it would fire up?.....1/2 gal is enough in the tank to pump it through eventually........ask me how I know...........one cold morning......side of the road.....Seems like it'll take forever and ever getting it to the carb......kept pouring a little in the carb and firing it up until finally it was primed and ready.....on to the gas station.....

Pour a thimble or two right down the carb. When the engine catches the pump will be pumping at hundreds of times per minute. You may get gas that way.

Well, great minds think alike!

cool, so pull the oilbath/ filter of the top, and put it right in the barrel?

Sorry, never done this before :D

yeah, Thats the only way I've done it in a dry system.....Just be careful and watch for backfiring, could have a little flame back especially if the timing isnt dialed in.......Have a clean rag for smothering a flame.....fire extinguisher, just to be safe.....

The choke may help pull the gas towards the pump. May not work though.

Don't sweat it.
