Hey Destin,

I was reading through your build and I have a question. Did/does your valve cover have stickers on it? Like a F120 or something??

I do not think there is a sticker on it, I will have to look tomorrow when I am at the shop. I think it is a f135 motor however.

I know Atlass ( Shane ) makes perfect reproductions stickers, I have and f135 one, it looks great :D

I take some photos in sec.

He has all kinds of old reproductions stickers.

You could prolly buy a kit of them for whatever you need.

The f135 sticker has a protective film on it now until it is applied. The stickers are amazing.

Not sure on the shifter...mine was converted to floor shift.
Definitely use some heat...mapp gas will be hotter.
Your not going to hurt it...your going to need new hardware/rubber pads anyways.
I'm also guessing here but I am thinking your going to want to pull the steering column.

Coool, I have new hardware and stuff for the hinges :)
Will try the heat later this week :D

Do i need to pull the steering shaft as well?
I thought the tub would be pulled over it, but I imagine removing the steering shaft might be easier than lifting that tub over the column... :D

hmmm, that last bits are always tricky.

Never done it (yet) but I think you will want that steering column outta da way. Think you just unbolt the steering box and drop it all down and out.

Destin,

Hope this helps. It comes out of the repair manual printed in 1971 covering all the 40 series.

Cheers Dobster

THe F120 ended sometime in 1960. F135 is the factory installed engine in the FJ40s until 68 model. Besides the F135 sticker there should be another one with the engine adjustment info too.

Good news

Body shop says to bring it in, they can do other work while the rear sill is being made.
The are also gonna take the windscreen off for me :)

Now i just need to get the tub off and the parts delivered!!!!

Remove the draglink, unbolt the box from the pedestal and remove as a unit. 1,000x easier than pulling that arm off.

I am telling you to borrow my 1/2" Snap-on impact with #3 phillips bit....

Do you really want some one else doing it?

Yeah i hear ya man.
But I chatted with these guys and they do this stuff all the time.
I have been trying patiently to soak and tap these hinge screws for 4 weeks now.
I give up :)

haha not yet

work has been nuts.

Hopefully I can do it tomorrow or tuesday :D

Then off to the shop!
Need to figure out a way to get it there, guess call a tow truck flatbed and have some of my buddies help me lift it on... ?
