May not have flatbeds. But they do have trailers big enough for a tub. Won't take that big of a trailer for just the tub. Then make second trip with all the other parts. On trailers they charge by time alone. On trucks it's time and mileage. Of course that is for local only. One way they would charge for mileage. When I moved a little over a year ago I had to move a rolling chassis with engine and cowl. I rented a trailer that was for gravel and dirt because they didn't have a car hauler at the time. I didn't feel like drivering all over town to get a car hauler. it was cheaper thatn a car hauler around $25:cheers:

Ya they have something that will work. Just dont tell them your hauling a Land Cruiser on it.
You will just confuse them! lol and they might not let you.
Would think it would be cheaper than hiring a truck.

...or you can make a couple dollys, flip it on it's side, and walk it down the sidewalk :lol::lol:

Instead of renting a truck, I would invest in a trailer hitch for your car. I do not know what you drive, (besides the '64), but most small cars can easily pull 1500 lbs. I would also check for a cheap trailer on CL, or I would look to get a new one at Home Depot or something...that is if you have the place to keep one. You'll be surprised at how often you'll use a small trailer...either with you car, or behind the '64...trust me, I know this first hand...just my 0.02 cents :hillbilly:

Didn't realize you don;t have atow vehicle. If they have a long wheel base truck your could probably put the tub on it side and strap it down. Then load the other items on the sides. With it being a soft top it should be doable. That would keep your mileage down. This is of course for a short distance. You not taking them the rolling chassis are you? I doubt they would rent you a car hauler to tow behind one of their pickups.

Trust me it's cheaper to rent something than buy a car hauler. You would probably end up with a back yard that would look like mine:rolleyes:

I don't know John...I don't see that as being a problem :hillbilly:

Destin, I just checked on your local CL list, and found some nice ones...like this nice one...don't how you'd strap the tub unless you got some 2 x 10's to make a deck to hold securely, at least it would look VERY nice once painted red behind your 40 :bounce::bounce::bounce:
MILITARY UTILITY TRAILER

Just looked at the tread of this 67 tub for sale. I thought it was interesting the rust on the front of fender wells. Your may have had the same problem. Could explain why yours was replace.

Found a few others on Mud. I never seen the rusted fender well but it doesn't look like that uncommon of a problem.

Thanks guys.

I let the body shop guys fix everything up, they do a lot of work for a landcruiser shop in town :D
They seem pretty confident they can make the fender walls and the rear sill look great.

have all the mounts bolts off and it is ready to carry off the frame ! :D

Just need to rent a trailer and a truck ( wife's subaru has a hitch but she and the car are in boise for a few more weeks ) and a trailer. Maybe i can get this all sent to the shop by tuesday or wednesday :D
I do not have another car, so i have to rent something.

ONly thing left tot take a part are the factory soft doors, But they look pretty easy :D

I am actually pretty excited to start cleaning up the frame too:

Spent the day underneath that beast removing the body mount bolts, and i have to say, it is clean!!!

Gonna degrease, metal etch and paint it as well as my skills allow :D

Also clean up and degrease the whole drive train :D

And the good news is that i finish this nintendo flash website monday :D
Then i can go crazy!

got the gas tank back form the repair shop.

Idiots sprayed undercoating on it with out asking me.
Also has visible weld patches on the top.
Looks like i have to have the body shop media blast off the undercoating, and the welds will be covered by the seat I guess.

But for the money i was paying, this i did not expect.

Sucks

That does suck :frown:
Did they bring the price down a bit, or will the blasting, weld fix, and repainting come out of your pocket?

They did not get it was a problem.
They were supposed to call me BEFORE they even touched it.
So i have to have it blasted and painted.
No way to fix the big patches on the top I do not think.
They were yammering about it being baffled and tricky to get it relined blah blah.
Kinda mad at the moment.

I suppose once it is blasted an painted you will not see it because the seat will cover it. but it is still crap work in my opinion.

Another problem, taking the doors apart...
The metal channel on the soft-doors, the screws that hold them in are soft and stuck ( channel for the seal nd the bit that holds canvas on the door. I have no idea of how to get this channel out, Screws strip out without even trying. Any ideas?

So ready to be putting this back together as opposed to taking it apart...

man

Stick with it man and if its giving you fits walk away for a few. Trust me there are moments where I am about to go freakin nuts working on my 40...but its always worth it in the long haul!
(Took me over an hour to get my passenger seat bolted back in tonight in the hot shop...ya I was about to walk away! But my 40 is together and ready for a test spin!!!!!)

Gotta go get some petrol!
