In a continuing effort to contain my pignorant questions, posing here.

After a little seat time, I'm concerned about legroom, or the lack thereof, and don't see a means to move whatever the final seat option is, further back, without there being little reason for a rear door. (No room in back seat for rear passenger, for those challenged with D'English).

So, I'm curious if anyone has any experience or input on moving the pedals closer to the firewall?

In realizing all are levers, thinking it's possible without impacting the stroke, but I don't profess much knowledge of anything anyway.

you might gain a inch or two...not alot of room down there. might be able to mount the seat an inch or two higher, that would add to whatever room you could find by making straight pedal arms. they weren't made for wide eyes...

Reminded myself of my upstanding citizenship, threw caution to the wind, displayed the now useless plate, drove seven miles, and spent 2 hours and $30 washing her.

Realized during that there's more commonality shared between us.

When we clean up, all we really do is expose more of our roughness.

Anyhow....

I'm a pessimistic visionary (haha) but having difficulty dreaming of DDing at highway speeds.
Never driven a tight Pig, in my own defens, though.

Regardless, a few items that will need to be addressed are RH, suspension, seat pan height, and legroom.

I've tried on number it's occasions to elicit a response from Jeff at Deaver to discuss a 2-2 1/2" leaf with the only focus being comfort, to no avail.

Considering Alcan my only option, unless someone has a suggestion otherwise.

Reworking these isn't a viable consideration and Kurt's offerings are all stated for additional loads, which aren't present on this build.

Will order shocks according to lift specs, with the standard nomenclature "caddy like" ride, when the time comes.

Don't know what to do about seat/leg room.

Lowering the seat beyond its current setting (which isn't possible due to heater) makes for a funny steering wheel angle, determined by lowering the PS and holding up a wheel.

Tilt column may help, but still gets no where on leg room.

For moving pedals...there's room at the bottom of the clutch and brake pedal throw, that may be minimized once the masters are addressed, but can't say for certain.

The only other armature I have is the 80, which is so different, it's no use even to visualize, so still searching for info on.

Cliffs below.

You must be a long legged SOB. Back in the Eighties, when I had my first wagon and I was still 6' 1", I fit real good. Now I had a problem fitting in my 40, but everybody has a problem in them.

I don't know what you could do, other than move the seat brackets back. Make adapters to move the whole bench back an inch or two.

You could always wait until your joints wear out and you shrink alittle. :)

Ron, or let the floor pan rot out, that would add a couple inches. YABBAA DABBAA DDOO.;):):beer::beer:

Thanks Bob.

Can't say that lowering the pan wasn't a consideration, but it's not rotted, so will cut out part of my leg before touching it.

:lol::popcorn:

get out you old land line telephone numbers book. in the section with yellowish pages(made from PAPER- google that if you don't know...)there will be a section where all the given numbers are grouped together in order of what kind of service the people at the other end of the wires(google...)provide to the general public. Scroll to the S section and find the sub heading called springs and spring manufacturers. in that sub heading, find a listing for a place called a "spring shop". there will be a 7 digit number that you can enter into either an antique telephone or on you cell. when you hear a voice in your earpiece, announce yourself and state your desires. they will steer you in the right direction:flipoff2: (happy new yours)

THAT WAS FUNNY:lol:

No go at the local outlets.

Tulsa Spring said they order the usual fare for the few 40s and 60s they've seen, due to the metric width.

Said nothing available for 55s, so they could only build in a 2.5" width and would charge hourly to adjust height, lean, rake and ride.

He estimated $1-1.5k.....

There's a major manufacturer in Claremore, OK but have to spec and order a semi load. They're a major player in mass production of truck and trailer leafs and they suggested a company that's no longer in business.

those would be right in line with what alcan would get- about 350 per custom spring...

Do you maintain an anti-Alcan position, too?

I'd love to do business with Kurt on this, but the additional load capacities and the perceived impact on ride quality concern me.

I've learned my lesson on coils/coil overs and have absolutely no desire to be a guinea pig, again.

Once again, my goals are:

Lift it 3.5" above its current ride height, which should be 2-2.5" over OE.

No additional weight considerations beyond OE.

On road ride quality takes highest importance over any other.

Tulsa Spring contends that re-arching can be done, but they do not guarantee the results nor longevity of product.

He said it "sounds good", but it's a "fine art."

I'm lucky I guess, I have Eberwein spring right down the road from me(50 miles). they are one of the older old fashioned spring shops- run by fine artisans;). they want 350-375 per custom, but only 50 per axle to disassemble, flatten, re-arch, and reassemble. They will say they won't guarantee any longevity, but mostly because it is an off road vehicle as well...I don't have a prollem w/alcan, just out of my range...
might think about talking to Kurt about using the 75 series springs, loose a leaf or 2 from the pack, and then have them arched to desired ride height....the trick is to have a long enough leaf that it can be arched a bit more, but not be too short then for the hangers...the 75 series springs are long enough to do this, and with a leaf or 2 missing, there will be a better ride quality over all just due to the longer springs and corrected shackle angles...the re-arching lasts longer on a newer spring, FWIU from the guys at Eberwein...

I'm 6'1" and I don't have any problem with Pig comfort. I do feel like I'm looking out the rear door window but there is still plenty of room behind me. Depending on what you are doing for a front seat you can also raise the seat a little to gain inches that way. In a past iteration of my front seating I had it so my head almost hit the ceiling which made for a really comfortable driving position as long as I didn't go over any speed bumps. The first front seats I used were out of a full size Blazer, now I'm using some cheap-o sport buckets which are harder and lower but have nice side bolsters in case I decide I need to do some auto-crossing. :)
How big of tires are you going with? You have a good height at the moment. What lift is in it currently? One thing I found was that once I got it to the height I wanted my wife and kids could no longer get in...thus they all hated the Pig. I've taken a bunch of lift back out of it and have gone to smaller tires. Do the wife test before you go a lot farther.

Plan to run 33s and the "lift" is mostly to elevate for ease of egress in and out for myself. At 3.5" above where it currently sits, puts the bottom of the door opening at 5' 11 1/2".

My family already has the lifted 80 to despise, so anything less should be embraced.

On seating, had intentions of F250 ABTS seats mounted on ~1" risers, but thinking the seat backs are too thick to still leave knee room in rear seat behind driver.
