I have some neoprene, but it's dense. Your's looks like it would work good. The lense gasket has a lip around it, to help seal, but the spongie neoprene should take care of that.

I'm uncertain the part number on the wheels, but the same that are commonly found on eBay and vendors pages that have the clips for the caps already.

The tires are 33x10.50 KM2s, as I'm a big fan of, but honestly purchased for looks on the Pigs because they may rarely see a dirt road. That said, I've ran KM2s on the FJC for 70k and they've still tread to go, so not a bad road tire. The biggest detraction being road noise.

Getting closer to title procurement. In the meantime....

Keep coming back to keeping the earlier taillights, instead of the later.

Would to find the Australian covers, though, just because I think they're cool.



The rest is heretical in nature and impure, as a warning, but obviously appreciate the opinions of others, and reason for posing.

Keep in mind I've another that's a restoration before tying me to the stake.

**On the rear....**

Thinking about either a functioning round reverse light in place of the rear reflector or eliminating the rear reflector and, possibly, updating the reverse light for a flush(er) alternative.

Thinking a round reverse light with the chrome ring would look cool, as this is all for aesthetics anyway, if not eliminating the reflector and keeping the OE reverse light at the very least.

Have no clue why the license plate on the rear door did t utilize the depression for, but thinking I'll move back to the DS, mount the appropriate single tag light, and eliminate what's on the PS door, now.



Another consideration would be to remove the OE gate depression, with the dual tag lights, and section into the PS door.

This will be a common sight, if not addressed.



So, something's happening, be it complete removal of, or smaller replacement.





Don't know the legalities concerning, but pretty sure there'd be no issue running no fender signals, but just the lower grille signals, which is probably preferred, but throwing it out there.

Don't mind the looks of the VW signals, as they do almost appear they could've gone there, originally.

86ing the antenna, and also considering 86ing the vents. These are solid, so can't see that a purpose is served, anyway.



Again, in the spirit of minimalism and daily driving hazards being considered.

You're probably right and I realize that complete removal of the rear vent will bode as well as swapping to a later version.

Just thinking outside the box since I've only one decent set of vents and replacements aren't readily available.

I currently have a rear gate that is depressed....literally.

The rear ambulance doors don't have the same depression and I'd prefer they did have the depression.

That is the understatement of the century, Monsieur.

It's not the goal, but it does seem to be a recurring theme.

In short:

The front fender mounted signals will be addressed with the goal being minimization of suffering a similar fate that they already have, be that complete removal, or a lower profile version.

The front cowl vents serve no purpose. They're closed now, so why not consider filling in?

The rear quarter vents, rear quarter marker lights, rear reflectors serve little purpose beyond aesthetics attributable to the platform, and replacements aren't readily available, nor are replacement reverse lenses.

I have enough of all for one Pig and reserving the best of current for the restoration.

This will be a daily driver, subject to potential maladies exceeding those of even the toughest trails.....being the general public in parking lots.

All pondering points and the dialogue is reason for posing, so I appreciate your input, tatat.

The rear vents form a low pressure vacuum, allowing you to open your windows w/o wind buffeting, reason the were added (early don't have them). Valid point. Doesn't matter here and now, but should be a consideration, overall.

If I could embrace the later rear lights, balance would be a non-issue.

I can only imagine how stupid it sounds to even consider sectioning in a tailgate depression into ambulance doors, not to mention sectioning in the tag depression and dual rear lights into a single barn door, let alone keeping the earlier taillights, and deleting the rear reflector and reverse light.

I wish that I didn't have a hang up with this and I hope it'll subside in time, since the single, later, tall taillights address several points of contention.

I should focus on using the later taillights, refinishing the quarter vents, leaving the barn doors as they are, and be done with it.....but having a hard time with it, for some reason.

Could swap to the lower profile front fender signal, leave the grille and the cowl vents alone (or correct for fresh air intake, whichever benefits the carb) and call it a day.

About the front vents, I think they are an important part of the parsonality of the 55, so I would never never, delete them. Even if they are closed and dont vent anything, A pig looks naked without them (IMHO)

More than likely, the only change to the front will be the smaller signals and, possibly, the grille mounted lights, as running lights.





Hoping the smaller signals suffice, legally, as side indicators, as well.

Keep it simple (haha) and run the later taillights with the ambulance doors.

Call that good.

It'll be a feat to round up all in good condition.
