My factory HDJ81 clock has a stopwatch and alarm.

24 volt system

I'm really interested in these LED setups. I'd like to do an interior one, but would also like to do tail, reverse and marker lights as well. I've got a 95' 24v HDJ81. Anyone know if there will be issues using LED's on a 24v system?

What about the flickering that the OP is running into? My understanding is that LED's are the longest lasting light out there and are also much more impervious to the elements than standard bulbs.

Any thoughts?

your car should only be 24v starting , a relay switches polarity to deliver 24v to the starter the rest of the time its 12v

has anyone found led bulb suppliers besides superbright and autoillumination? i've had probably 40 percent of the bulbs i ordered burned out. i've tried to get a major us led light manufacturere to get into manufacturing bulbs, but they're not interested. if i'm gonna spend a small fortune on leds, i'd like ones that are quality:frown:

No such thing as a 24v 80 series. Your Cruiser is 12v.

Maybe not in the USA, but my UK spec cruiser is a 24v. Lots of Africa spec ones are too. Nice thing is they come with dual batteries from the factory. :)

My JDM spec HDJ81 came with dual batteries from the factory. And out has a factory 1HDT with 24v starting, and 12v everything else. I'd be interested to know if you actually measure 24v at your fuse panel. I doubt it.

Just found out from a South African guy that my Cruiser is only 24v for starting and converts over to 12v for everything else. That makes life much easier on me.

I'm not South African. ;)

That's what I'm here for - to learn and to share.

Also picked up one of the Larson task LEDs for use around the truck. This works great stuck on the side of the truck when airing up tires and stuff.

i went farther than just swap bulbs on mine. i made a printed circuit board for the gear indicator lights since i cant find direct swap led replacement bulbs. this might give you some ideas. it works great.

Phil -O ,

That really looks great !!!:clap:

Are you planning to mass produce and market this? If so, I need one for my 80LC, please put me in for one and I can pick it up when I come to visit this May - I have a home in Sto. Tomas Batangas and will be there for about a month.

Salamat Po,
Frank

hi frank kaibigan and kababayan, i am from the summer capital. i can't mass produce these, but i could make one for you. just send me that particular part from your cruiser together with a 4"x2" printed circuit board, ferric chloride (etching solution) 8 pcs of 3mm led (your choice of color) and 8 pcs of 1/4 watts 500 ohms resistors and i can make it for you free. it's simple though, if you're a DIY. sorry mudders, i wasn't able to take step by step pictures of the project. i used bright white leds on the gear indicators and bright blue for the back lighting

oops, the number of bulbs depends on the model of your cruiser. hdj81s have no over drive so it has a light for L, 2, 3, D, N, R, P and the back lighting (8bulbs all in all for the gear indicator)

I spent a year of college at UP B long time ago. Great place to be specially during the summer months. I will certainly get the stuff you need to build one of these things and get a hold of you when I come in.
Till then, ingat lang and wishing your adventures never end.
Frank
