We look forward to your generosity again next year.Since Sarah and I were among the first in and the last out, I again got to see just how much work it takes to get the barn ready for an event and to button it all back up when it's over. Kenny and Lydia don't just open the gates and start the party. Fallen trees are cleared, split and stacked. Water and gas lines are hooked up and checked. "Furniture" and creature comfort stuff is unpacked and set up. Fires are started and maintained. Cooking appliances are unpacked and set up. Pots, pans, utensils, food, condiments, etc is all brought in and available for those who need it, not to mention constantly cleaned throughout an event. TRASH and recycling are collected and disposed of at the dump. Things that are left behind are sold on Craigslist or eBay...I mean, sent back to their owners or stored until next time (Benke, your cooler might smell a little shrimpy next year when you pick it up).
It's a large task that they happily do for us, but let's remember that they have to do it every time they use the place, not just when they host ONSC, and the process starts well in advance of the event easily adding an extra couple days to an event. They never ask, but I know they appreciate all the help that any of us are able to give to our events.
Lastly, thanks to Lumbee1's wife (I think it was her) for noticing a plumbing problem and to Kenny (and maybe Shaun?) for quietly fixing it. I'm not sure what the bathroom would have looked like if we couldn't have flushed!
Thanks Kenny and Lydia. We look forward to your generosity again next year.
