Goody, more work for today!

Idler pulley arms to replace the smog pump.

I saw a solution to your drivers front shock if you haven't come up with one yet.

That is the general idea I was thinking of, though my execution will be different.

The body should be ready for pickup next week. I will need about four guys to help get the body off the trailer and onto the frame. Would anybody be available the weekend of July 18/19 to help?

I visited the body shop last Friday. They had not done very much work on the tub. I have not heard from Smith's, which means they haven't seen the body either.

I don't think assembly will happen this weekend. Smith's needs the body for two days, then R&C was going to paint after that. I don't think there is enough time left in the week for that to happen.

Most likely I can help on Saturday. Will confirm on Thursday.

See the post right in front of yours. This weekends assembly party will need to be postponed, hopefully only a week.

Update. Smith's called today to let me know they finally had possession of the tub. I went over after work and we talked about what I wanted coated, and what I didn't want coated. They are also going to cover over several holes created by PO's over the years. While there, I noticed that the holes used to bolt on the tailgate were, um, missing. Even though I told them to just skim my welds, they went bondo happy and some places are filled very thick (quarter inch). This includes the area around the filler neck for the gas tank and I'm not sure the grommet will now fit, especially after Smith's puts down their material on the inside. The holes for the tailgate hinges were filled in, but I was able to drill out all but two while I was there. The other two will require the hinge to discover them. I just hope the flexing off-road doesn't cause this thick filler to pop and drop.

Smith's will have the tub done on Friday. It then goes back to R&C for color paint. Hopefully, I will have it back by Friday next week.

Sorry for the crappy camera pics. It was the only device I had on me.

A good coat of epoxy paint will hold that bondo on better...

I went over after work...

Call the press! A guberment employee waited until after work and did not just take the rest of the day off. You know if I didn't say it, Mike would have.

BTW, looks like it is all coming together. Now we don't have listen about Mike's intervention for you anymore.

Jon:

That looks good. I know it looks like it's got a lot of thick body filler, but that on bare metal (I would have put epoxy primer on first, if it was me, but I'm not a body shop either) should adhere pretty well. And I'm guessing they aren't using el-cheapo bondo grande either, probably the good stuff that will adhere nicely.

I know it still looks all apart, but I also know how fast it comes together once you get some paint on there--especially since your truck is so done otherwise.

Update. I talked with Smith's late yesterday. The body will be going to R&C Bodyworks on Monday.

Also, just when you think you are ready to rock ... In the process of getting things organized, I started to assemble the minor bits and found out I needed more parts {ugh}. I thought I had all the parts necessary to put the doors together, but found out I didn't have the retainers to hold on the window seals. Also, when Diesel Dan powdered coated the transfer shifter we found there was a bushing that was in poor condition. Back to see CDan.

Don't know, he only got 20 bucks from me today. I felt like a cheapskate. :grinpimp:

Some days you leave without even touching yer billfold......

Other days you leave without yer billfold...............:grinpimp:

Smith's called today. Tub is now back in the hands of R&C Bodyworks. I went by R&C after work to take a look. Scott was sanding it down preparing for paint. He said it will be painted TOMORROW!

So ... assembly party on Saturday for those not going on the run. I plan on being in the garage by 8am to start preparing the body (tapping holes). Pizza for those that show up, even if it's to watch and coach. Engineers welcome, as long as things don't get over analyzed and we fall into analysis paralysis.

BYOT, please, especially 10mm, 12mm, 13mm, and 14mm sockets and wrenches.

Sneak peek.

I really, really don't feel like working this weekend.

Really.

I see the bling there! Nice!

Looks good. It sounds like you really are in the final days of getting her ready to go.

I'M ready to go ... been ready to go. Unfortunately others are not on board. I was hoping for a call from R&C yesterday afternoon, but that didn't happen. There are still three days left in the week so hopefully they get it done. I also followed up on the roll cage I ordered July 1st, and that didn't go well either.

Several quotes come to mind:

"Under promise, over deliver" - CDan
"s*** or get off the pot" - Nylia
"Work first, play later" - my Mom.

I hate to say that Steve wins. I gave it a good shot. If I sound frustrated right now it's because I am.
