BTW, Ali called me this morning to tell me there is a FJ62 at the U-Pull on Broadway. Thing is, there is now less of it there than when he called :D. Thanks for the tip. Now that the engine is running I can move on to other projects ... like the brakes and clutch.

I just had to run out to the garage and listen to that beast again. I also wanted to check and see if the gauges were working. The tach idles at 800rpm, and the oil pressure was at just less than 50psi. Plus, still no trouble codes. Gotta love it when a plan comes together.

No lie, I was an ear-witness to the beast firing up!!! Congrats!

What happened to the faulty fuel pressure regulator? Or was it just hooked up bassackwards?

Still faulty. It's stuck and doesn't return fuel to the tank.

Nice Jon. I liked how you just reached over the dash to bump the throttle too.

John congrats on getting it running! How long till it's driving? Maybe we'll make the meeting this weekend and check it out. BTW, since Ashleigh's 40 is now my DD, I pulled the top this weekend. Nothing like ridin' around with the top down! Get that junk done and enjoy it.

The Monster Lives!

Now, when do we get to see it on the trail?!?

Perhaps you need one of these? Toyota SST # BFH :D

I thought you were gonna call me before lighting it up? Glad to see/hear it's running properly- It's been a long time coming.

I got impatient and didn't want to wait three days when all was ready to go. You will just have to stop by :grinpimp: It might be running, but it isn't moving. I did give it a tap hoping it would lodge loose. No worky.

Ya, know. I got to thinking. This whole exercise is your fault. You're the one that called me about the parts truck in Santa Fe. You're the one that helped me pull this junk off. If it wasn't for that weekend afternoon I wouldn't be looking at this monster under the hood.

Thanks.

he did the same thing to me.
i was thinking about centered rear diff options and he calls with info on a set of 1 ton axles in Taos. :D

It now has a throttle cable and a foot pedal (vroooom). It also has brake and clutch pedals hooked up to master cylinders. The last two cleared the steering column. :D

Coolent Recovery Bottle/Tank

Need some help. I've been all over Google trying to find something. This is the slickest I've seen, but at $170 it's more than I want to spend. I have a mini-truck tank that I'm about to figure out a way to mount. Anybody have other ideas? There was a section in FAQ, but it didn't do much for me. I'm thinking about going to one of the local speed shops and see what they might have.

That's better. I think the key word here comes from JEGS ... "recirculating." I saw the cans from Summit, but they seem to just catch the excess without allowing it to return.

Gawd I Love Boneyards

I received word from a birdy that there was a FJ60 at the yard in Santa Fe. Well, there wasn't, so I took the time walking around just looking. Sometimes if you don't know what you are looking for, you find what you need.

First item was a wrecked 1991 Celica ST. The seats were actually in ok shape. The passanger seat was great, but the front/back slider didn't work. Easy fix now that it's out. Drivers seat had some wear on the bolster, but seat covers will mend that. Both seats are filthy, and you should have seen the inside of the car. The guy was a pig. The seats look like they will be real cushy on da'tushy.

I then wandered around looking for anything with a Toyota badge. Next find was a Previa mini-van. I'm not looking for anything in particular, then I see it. The diagnostic box on the floor. It has a bracket attached. This is significant. Why? On FJ62's the diag box attaches to the firewall to a metal tab welded to the body. On mini-trucks it attaches to a plastic tab molded to the fuse block. You can't take them off. This was the first time I saw an actual bracket that I could remove and bolt to something and mount my box.
