Here is the plan. I need to source one fuel line, and I'm working on that. Once I get the line I can hook up the engine to a fuel pump and gasoline. My plan is to put fire to the holes this weekend, probably Saturday. It will depend on when I source the fuel line.

Who is up to watch? Trouble-shooting skills desirable, but not required. Pizza and Pacifico to follow.

I'll be able to see the smoke from my house! ;-)
I'm sure I'll be tired of the 80, so i might just wand4er on up there...

Dang, Greg, Ryan, and I think Mike can't make it. Let me think about this. Would Tuesday after work be ok? It would certainly give me a chance to make sure all the clamps are tight, and double check everything.

You know how bad I want to be there Jon but I am not available. What's a few extra weeks when you've been dinkin' with that thing for 4 years? :D

Besides, the only help I would be is to eat your pizza and drink your beer. However, I have formal training with fire extinguishers by the Albuquerque Fire Department. :D

If your talking about Tues, July 3, then I'm in. I won't be bringing much though in the diagnostic department.

I've been wanting to be there to see it fire. I have faith.

If you're truly ready then don't wait for spectators (unless you really want to!). I've fired up two major projects (and many smaller ones) without a cheering section - doesn't diminish the ultimate result any.

Sure Glad I Checked

After work I went by NAPA to get some EFI fuel line to run between the pump and the filter (expensive stuff that was!). When I came home I pulled out the boneyard pump (not OEM, BTW) and hooked it up, tapped the wires to the battery, and ... nothing. Schit. So I pulled out my OEM boneyard pump, hooked it up, and ... bizzzzzzz. So, pending a double check on clamps, filling fluids, getting the hose for the filter, and a few other million little things, it's ready to fire. Of course coolent is optional since I won't be running her long without a muffler. I also need the bi-pass hoses on the pump.

Mike,

Considering the, er, eh, encouragement you have given me, I too am disappointed you won't be there. :grinpimp: I'll save you a beer.

A color option.

Are you going to definitely keep it vintage color or does it matter?

I like the baby poop yellow, but I would have some concerns with your blue engine. It will be a bit of a clash. I know its under the hood but I guarantee you'll be popping that baby left and right.

Perhaps a red or some kind of gunmetal grey? Dark grey would be my pick for your blue but I think a red cruiser would be the shizzle.

I'm just saying is all.

I don't see the opposing colors with the engine a problem. I actually thought of doing an uglist paint color poll. This color is high on my list. It also would have several other advantages. I think a truck this color would be less likely to get stollen. And if it did, it would stand out from the crowd. My personal favorites are:

Yellow (This color?): 532
Pueblo Brown: 415
Pollux Orange: 304
Olive Green: 653/637

#1 - Olive Green
#2 - Pollux Orange

Clashing under-the-hood colors doesn't really matter if you're still keeping the firewall red/bare metal/rusty spots color

Pollux Orange or Yellow then.
