Excuse my ignorance here, but why is the spare on the driver side?
I have always thought it was to give more visibility when backing up. Sale as the window shape on Land Rovers. Pure speculation, I have never been officially educated on the subject.

When the FJ Cruisers came out my wife really wanted one and we were already in the market for a new vehicle. After backing out of the dealership parking spot on a test drive, the rear visibility killed that idea.

The spare was in the driver side from 74 and later IIRC. My 73 is passanger but I like driver better because you have better visibility when doing a head check over your right shoulder.

Do you think that is why the PO switched it to the driver side on the 40 I posted earlier?

Not that I know of but there are a lot of signs it was a lot of years of cruiser parts put together. Has the later barn door sides. Still a solid truck. I'm sure the new owner will pop in. He was at the last monthly meeting.

Johnny I saw you driving past Furman last night. Flashed my lights but you were in blinders mode.

Saw you this morning about 8:30 am driving down McBee towards Main Street! Seeing a 40 on the road brings a smile....thanks!

I live right around there so I am usually pretty zoned out.... I did see you but it was at the last second and you were gone.

Meant to post these up sooner.....

This White 40 belongs to a young man by the name of Grayling who restored it with his dad. He is doing some work at Trollhole's over the summer before heading to school in Montana. He just graduated from Wade Hampton HS with my youngest daughter. I don't believe it's really for sale, he hopes to take it with him out west.

Saw it last week coming out of Roper Mtn science center one evening.....with an IH8MUD & Trollholes sticker on it we should be able to find out! I'm not familiar with it..... @Trollhole ?

Yes a customer of mine.

Spotted in my driveway....posting up as it will be heading to Clemson tomorrow so I most likely won't be seeing it for awhile! The last chick is leaving the nest......for years thought she would be going to school much farther away, so thankful she will be nearby but will be giving her space!
There will be quite a contingent of Land Cruisers from UC (@Montanaconner, @nickcain007 and my daughter Sam) at Clemson this year, we will look to resurrect the Clemson Mafia started by @CruisinTiger , @ClemsonCruiser . Also met a member of ONSC who's daughter will have a black 100 series at Clemson as well.

This Black 100 series will be at Clemson and driven by Madeline Jones from Greensboro, NC. I believe that is her dad's 200 series in the background.

Crazy to think the original Clemson Mafia formed nearly 15 years ago. This new contingent were just little kids then, man I'm getting old

Also seems the quality of Land Cruiser has gone up with the new Mafia, we were all driving beat up 40's back then as our DDs :grinpimp:
