Consumed with thoughts of CM12. Out there for a week this time. 6, count 'em, 6 wheeling days. Coming west with 10 trucks this year.
I leave in 6 days and the truck is almost packed already. Yafreakinhoo.

Looking forward to seeing you again Jon!

I'm startin' to get nervous about having my 60 ready. Paint shop quoted 1.5 to 2 weeks, 2 weeks was up last Friday (OK technically noon today). Talked with them on the phone on Thursday and they were sayin' maybe be done by Wednesday (day after tomorrow). Then I still have to mount the ARB bull bar, fit/cut/weld/paint the sliders, install lock right, adjust rear brakes, install cb, and if it arrives in time, swap in Jim C. carb. The carb is over a month late...

And somehow Jeff it will all come together.

yeah, I had to take my softtop to another shop for repair - the first shop was dragging too much - I still don't know whether it will be done Friday

Just got off the phone with the paint shop - still not done, they've had the rig 2 1/2 weeks now, a week late. Good news is the carb should be here tomorrow. Be nice to have a rig to put it in...

What has everyone been doing to their rigs?

I am so looking forward to my first Cruise Moab. In the past few weeks I've done the following to my rig (1996 LX450):

throttle and brake cables - new
wheel bearings
brake pads
HAM and CB install
cargo box install
repair rear factory locker
all fluids replaced
new belts and hoses
new thermostat
new leather and Lexus cushions for drivers seat
new leather on steering wheel
new yellow top optima battery
the list goes on and on

Thanks to all for making the event possible, safe travels to all

Throwing my tent and crap his truck ^ :hillbilly:

My first post on this thread and first Moab trip with my truck:D. Hauling from NC and plan on arriving Sunday at slickrock campground. I look forward to meeting everyone and hope everybody gets there safely. :bounce:This is gonna be great!:bounce:

Heading out tomorrow morning from NY. Words can't describe how excited I am. I'm oddly excited for the 2,000+ mile drive too.

Finally got word that they are painting my 60 this morning. I can get it this afternoon and then start on the list:

Sliders
Bumper
Winch
Locker
Carb
CB
Storage

Other than that, not much left to do...

This will be my 12th Cruise Moab so at least I know the drill...

6:30a meeting, 9a meeting, then load and roll...1400 miles....hope to be there Sat night...

sadly, I gota be home May 21...uugh.. ;)

today: last minute shopping and cruiser packing

tomorrow: slap the softtop on and go :steer: :bounce:

I heading that way today but with a few stops planned so will be at Slickrock CG Tuesday AM to drop off my trailer, then heading to Lone Warrior. Bout all I've done I'd load gear and wash the truck.

33s: done
Paint: done
ARB bull bar: done
Sliders: done
Locker: to do
Carb: to do (yes Jim C. got it to me day before yesterday woo hoo!)
CB: to do
Winch: to do

That's the order. I've only needed a winch a couple of times at Moab, usually a strap is all that's needed. I can make do with a mag mounted antenna and a handheld for the CB. Locker is kinda pretty important and this is the 60 with the haunted carb that wants to stall at idle if she's pointed downhill.

I'm just really glad to have those sliders done tonight. Leaving Tuesday morning, so I have one full day tomorrow to get wrenching done plus Monday evening after work.

got the new tires on sat. lift in last weekend, gotta clean the rig, start packing it, have to work tuesday eve, won't leave until wed AM I can't wait.

Update - ALL DONE! Only a couple of detail left, like putting the front license plate on.

33s: done!
Paint: done!
ARB bull bar: done!
Sliders: done!
Locker: done!
Carb: done!
CB: done!
Winch: done!

A couple of new ones got added in there, cleaning, inspecting and adjusting the rear brakes. When I went to put the locker in I discovered a loose pinion nut and pinion bearing (prescription for a broken pinion) so I dropped the rear shaft and tightened it, then staked it, it hadn't been staked by whoever had been in there before.

My wife said "you must be so proud" referring to changing out the carb in a fully smogged 60. I said "not proud, just relieved that it went smoothly with no major gotchas". Mitchell manual says R&R of a carb on an '87 FJ60 is 2 hours, took me 2.5 hours, prolly the extra .5 hours was trying to reconnect the inlet hose at the smog pump after it came off when I pulled the air cleaner housing.

Gotta hand it to Jim Chenoweth, he certainly is the best at what he does. Started right up and runs like factory. Test drive was awesome, she's all good.

Now time to pack tools, spares etc. Leaving tomorrow around 10 AM - anyone heading west on I-70 toward Moab around that time, look for a silver '60 with ARB bumper, factory rear bumper and no roof rack. I'll be on channel 4.

Now that all the major mechanical stuff is done, I am so looking forward to seeing my best friends from all over the world!

:bounce:

I'm loaded. Not leaving until after work. Will arrive early/mid morning on Wed. Bringing the 100 :( Something went wrong in the transfer case in my FZJ68 yesterday and I just don't have time to fix it. So I'm going to have to cross off Rusty Nail and Pritchett for this trip.

Good work Jeff! I'm looking forward to seeing your 60 in person.

As I type this, I'm sitting beside the campfire, sipping a cold PBR at Slickrock Campground. Life is good :D
