I live in a society where circumcision is the answer to VD, and young people grow up believing in Santa Claus. I gave up on truth long ago.

Small businesses would be doing a lot better if large corporations weren't allowed to steal millions in relief funds that they didn't actually need.

The 4th one is especially damning:
"""
Businesses owned by politicians also borrowed from the program, including a minor league baseball team owned by the family of the governor of Ohio. A large franchisee of Wendy's, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut restaurants, whose CEO is a major donor to President Donald Trump, received loans totaling $15 million to $30 million.

Other recipients included Kanye West's clothing and sneaker brand Yeezy, Ice Cube's professional basketball league, Planned Parenthood clinics in more than two dozen states, Girl Scout chapters, the nonprofit arm of the anti-tax group headed by Grover Norquist, Americans for Tax Reform, as well as Rosenblatt Securities, one of the biggest names on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.

I had something typed up, but I decided to delete it.

If you live your life afraid of dying, then there is no reason to live.

We also live our lives for our fellow Americans, Virgil. That's not a terrible concept to accept in the face of reality; more needless deaths. I don't wear a mask because I am afraid of dying. That's a farce. For God's sake, can we count on our countrymen? This is part of the reason I wished the entire pandemic was 20x worse. At least when people drop dead in the streets you can't ignore it.

Swine flu, H1N1, from 2009 is still out there. It's been included in every flu shot since then.

The BS that the COVID vaccine was produced in record time is an outright lie. H1N1 was discovered in April 2009 (in California). By October 2009 the vaccine was available. By December 2009 the vaccine was opened up to anyone who wanted it.

A pharmaceutical research chemist too?

Here's Dr. William Petri. Please check his background and history as an infectious diseases specialist and professor at the University of Virginia.

"Vaccines typically take at least a decade to develop, test and manufacture. Both the chickenpox vaccine and FluMist, which protects against several strains of the influenza virus, took 28 years to develop. It took 15 years to develop a vaccine for human papilloma virus, which can cause six kinds of cancer. It also took 15 years to develop a vaccine for rotavirus, which commonly causes severe, watery diarrhea. It took Jonas Salk six years to develop and test the first polio vaccine, starting with the isolation of the virus.

The Pfizer-BioNTech and the Moderna COVID-19 messenger RNA vaccines, by contrast, have been developed in less than a year. That’s a game changer."

Here's the virology and pathogenic differences between H1N1, aka Swine Flu, a type of Influenza Virus, and SARS-CoV-2.

I do not get your angle here. The vaccine was produced in record time unlike any before it.

Where is the bull**** precisely?

Politics
Sucks.

I think it stopped being about politics when the first 100 thousand Americans died to be honest. We arrived at the "are you simply willing to wear a piece of cloth on your face to protect your neighbors" point a long time ago.

I do live my life to serve my fellow people. I feel that I do that a lot more than others. One example. Will flash for food. Almost $5000 donated since March.

I also carry a weapon everywhere I go. I practice shooting a lot and feel I am very proficient using it. If I see one of my fellow countrymen needing my help I am ready and willing to put myself in danger and face the consequences of my actions to help them. How many others can say that?

That was a ****ing stupid thing to say! What was the other part of the reason that you wanted your fellow Americans to die?

Not sure what your point was here. My timeline for H1N1 vaccine production came straight from the CDC. I didn't make this up. The bottom line is the first doses of H1N1 vaccine were given after 6 months. By month seven the FDA had approved 5 vaccines for H1N1. The first 100 million doses of vaccine were available at month 8. At the 8.5 month mark the vaccine was "opened up to anyone who wanted it." By month 9 the President was encouraging everybody to get the vaccine.

The COVID vaccine was NOT produced in record time. The Swine Flu vaccine was developed in 6 months, this is a documented fact.

It'a a totally different viral structure than Influenza! H1N1 vaccine was generated on existing strains of the Influenza vaccine which was developed decades ago! Hah! How pointless is this?

I listen to professors of medicine and infectious disease experts from our top universities. You know, experts in their fields.

SARS and MERS the first coronavirus, never got a vaccine!

"After the 2002–2004 SARS outbreak, vaccines against SARS-CoV were developed preclinically and two were tested in phase I trials5,6. However, development was stopped because the virus was eradicated from the human population and has not re-emerged since 2004. "

We already had influenza vaccine and it was already in circulation for decades. There was no Coronavirus vaccine. They made one in record time.

Where is the BS?

I'm glad you've done all of those things. Unfortunately in a viral pandemic what is most needed is to stop the spread. Some people are so caught up in their feelings being hurt over what they're being "told" to do rather than accepting what it is: hundreds of thousands of dead Americans.

If this pandemic were 20x worse, people would likely quit arguing their damn political and personal misgivings and work together. That doesn't mean I have some insidious alternative intention. It's a damn fact. If people were dropping dead on the sidewalks, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. I'm done trying to reason with anyone. People's family members, like David's, have died because of this negligence. It's sad.

A lot can say that, actually. I do the same thing, and it doesn't make a single bit of difference in the lives of those affected by the virus. You know what does?Wearing a mask.

I didn't ask if we can count on our countrymen to point to food donations or being armed at the ready. I think it's pretty clear what needed to be done this year, and the answer is by and large "No".

The only way peoples family members wouldn't be dying from this virus is if it didn't exist. You can't be blaming deaths on any one person or group of people.

Its not my feelings or anything political that fuels my beliefs. You believe what you want and I will do the same.

The last thing I want is a pat on the back for helping people, you just need to know that I am the last motherfucker you should be calling selfish or question my loyalty to my countrymen.

That's simply not true and we have the data to prove it. Wearing a mask saves lives. Every other modernized country was able to do it. That's not blaming anyone for deaths, it's saying the deaths were preventable. More people died because people couldn't cover up.

I'm not patting you on the back. We needed people to social distance and wear masks, and do it for their fellow Americans. Many said "no". Why? Because they were "told" to? If it's not based on how you feel about it, then it must be based on a personal truth and not scientific fact. If you really think none of it was preventable, that's not an opinion formed in factual basis and evidence. At that point, there's nothing left to say.

I didn't call you selfish. I don't question your loyalty. I question your flawed conclusions.

This is a real good discussion fellas, supported by facts and websites. I'm learning things.

On a lighter note, no waiting at Costco if you show up past 7:30pm :flipoff2:

Carry on.

Ever seen the movie 28 Days Later? Now THAT is a pandemic of epic proportions.

Straight from the NM Department of Health: Healthcare System Capacity | NMDOH - CV Modeling:

"*ICU capacity is dependent on two factors: adequate supply of beds and adequate supply of healthcare workers. In originally identifying ICU capacity across the HUB Hospitals...it was presumed beds would be the rate-limiting factor during the pandemic. However, staff shortages persist across many NM hospitals, becoming the primary rate-limiting factor. Meaning, although beds may be available in a hospital, there may not be enough personnel to provide care."

(Emphasis mine). I'll let you draw your own conclusions but it seems a little tragic to me...

I have a buddy who works at UNMH and he's burnt to a crisp. He is telling us that a young, healthy man in his 20s and a healthy man in his 40s passed away last week. He's taking the vac shot and is paranoid about getting together with us for a drink or something. I'd imagine he is representing the front line workers across this nation.
