Not mine, but I did see it sitting in Carmel at a gas station back in May. Looked like it had been sitting there for a bit but not too bad. I asked the gas station attendant if it may be for sale and her response was no. Low and behold here it is on Craigslist.

just wondering if this is a grey market rig? wonder if the title matches the frame #?

I cant see a thing on that rig that says its that old. Cowl hood windshield frame etc all scream newer style.

Sent from my phone using IH8MUD

Thick doors with wing windows were '84 only, correct? I don't see an e-brake lever under the dash either.

That thing is SICK

The abundant white paint makes me sick, that's for sure.

I think wing windows on late 2F doors are non-usa....could be thinking of something else though.
I could use a set...

Late model US doors can be fitted with the vent/wing. New glass and the whole apparatus will need to be sourced but your US door shell will fit the set-up. Towards the end of the FJ40 model run the factory started bolting everything in the global parts bin onto the US trucks. People will claim they have US-spec factory wing windows, but unless someone can produce a showroom pic of a US 83 with these I have a hard time believing these were included.

Posting has been deleted. Did anyone on here pick this thing up or as least inquire how much they were asking for it?

Thirty Ish . $30K Has fender damage and front bumper bent in current photos . Only a fabricated soft top,bed looks to be cut for tire clearance towards the bottom. What is a reasonable price?

Someone let me know that my FJ45 was on this forum so I registered to answer questions and clear up confusion about the truck. I bought it in 2005 from a friend in Carmel right after he finished it. He lives here now but stored the truck at his home in France before he brought it to Carmel. I have detailed photos of his restoration/build over the process. A forum member was gracious enough to educate me on where to match up all the VIN numbers and yes they all match. Today I spent considerable time taking photos and answering questions about the truck. My friend spent 160k building this awesome machine. I am in discussions with about five different FJ fans that are interested in purchasing the truck. As the discussions became serious I realized how sad I would be to see this truck leave our home. As we all know, we are just caretakers of history. These trucks are nearing extinction and need to be cared for and shared for the next generation. I do not know how or why my truck was posted here but thank you! It has been a pleasure to meet and learn from some very nice individuals.

I took the truck for a drive this evening in the rain. Somethings are truly irreplaceable and this truck fits that description.

Gears to you and happy holidays!

Not trying to be disrespectful in the least, but I hope you are referring to your French friend spending 160k in Franc, not Euro or USD. Seriously, it looks like a thorough restoration, and GLWS.

Welcome to IH8MUD

Thanks for clearing up the questions. This is The Landcruiser site for the world.

Sounds like you may be having second thoughts on selling it. Feel free to post more pictures. The Moderators can move the thread to the FJ45 owners club.

That would be me who cross posted it. I originally saw it parked at the Shell station in Carmel when my wife and I were on our 19th anniversary weekend get away. This is what us 45 owners do. If we see a 45 anywhere, for sale or not, we usuallly share the info unless we feel the need to hoard it ! :) My driveway is full of cruisers as of now so I am not in the market for any more- YET.:D
BTW,nice 45 and GLWS! Ken

Did anyone save pics they can upload. I am curious to see how she turned out.

I bought a number of stock 45 parts years back from a shop in Carmel that was building a 45 that was from France. I built a disc brake front end for them that probably ended up under this rig.

Best

THANKS ED!

Steps

Can anyone tell me if the passenger and driver side steps are spring loaded. In the photos it show the one step lower then retracted ???
I am considering building something like this for my 45. Anyone know?
Thanks

So who ended up with this? The previous owner just informed me that it sold to a MUD member!
