Remember what you paid for them?

I found these part numbers in the EPC. Don't know if they will match the new numbering system...

Passenger side Hose: 55759 Qty 1
Drivers side Hose: 55767 Qty 1
Passenger/Driver side firewall Grommet:55759A Qty 2
Passenger/Driver side Mounting Clamp: 90462-10043 Qty 2

Yep. Problem is, it was longer ago than I remember. 20 November 2003!

55759-60020: $26.13
55767-60020: $20.77

I wanted to bring this back to the top. I have an 8/73 and no drain hoses. From what this thread is saying, my cowl is cosmetic and not actually functional. I do have a fresh air knob on my dash and it does blow a little bit of air out of it. I always thought that the air was coming from the cowel. Where else would it be grabbing air to blow through my defroster vent without the fanrunning?

CCOT has the cowl drain tubes. I got a set last year.

Yours are different than the earlier years. Those didn't go thru the tranny hump but instead went thru the cowl with a few bends. A great place to have leaves and mud collect and plug up the hoses making itthat much easier for water to leak thru the vent and on to the switches and wiring.:frown:

Just wanted to chime into this old thread to say that I once had mine blocked, etc. but then decided to put it back....why? well when I bought my 83 FJ40 LX, it had many OEM/genuine toyota parts that worked BETTER than the new aftermarket stuff on my 45....needless to say the COWL vent was one of those things... I later realized TWO things and I'll share those here....at least in my case, the COWL damper itself is directional AND the OEM / Genuine Toyota rubber seal / gasket that goes around it is ALSO directional.... in my case, the leaks I'd get driving in the rain weren't bad, but my any water getting in with good hoses means that this seal isn't working and/or hoses are clogged up....in my case I found that I could NOT get a good seal with ANY of the aftermarket rubber gaskets/seals ...and I tried 4 different ones....some seemed like they were rubber....others seems like some sort of plastic-like-vinyl or something....but NONE of them worked well....most of them seemed LOOSE also....at least compared to the OEM/genuine one. I put the OEM one back on there and leaks were gone. The original Toyota one has a thick side and a thin side.....so as long as you put the damper on in the correct up/down AND the gasket in the correct direction, then you will get a very good and very tight seal....the water WILL not enter the vehicle....I had a new unopened Toyota one as well as my old one which only had a slight tear on one corner on the top only....also, the oem one stretches on very nice and tightly and not as all any loose play as I experienced with the aftermarket ones. I would love to find someone to reproduce one just like the original because I've yet to see an aftermarket one that even looks like it actually....
