This is a continuation of another discussion around converting the face of the 70 series which I think are all Kilometers per hour over to miles per hour. I have a rough outline of the 160 max conversion (which can be done with our without the kph) however I need some additonal help to complete the setup. Namely I need a faceplate to make sure the art work all lines up and then to do a video of how to install.

Here is the conversion for the 160. I will do the 180 next.

Contact me here or via a PM if you have a face you are willing to lend me.

I have a perimeter lit 160kph face (1990 Aussie hzj75). I read once about printing these files on magnetic "paper" with an inkjet. Is that howbwe use the file in the first post?

It must be a high quality image 1:1 scale file with high quality printer that can accommodate the thicker magnetic overlay (it is not really paper). Made a few of them for some people here and I got better at it over time but I don’t do it anymore.

The files I used are available for anyone to use but I never seen anyone actually use my files until @JVZii made his prototype. He did a really nice job I thought.

The main and really only advantage for the flexible magnetic overlay (for those with the metal face) is that it can be installed without ever removing the needle otherwise I would just go with what @JVZii offers.

I think @RHINO is going to send me a face.

I really need that to fine tune the setup and also see how the installation can be done successfully. The adhesive on the vinyl is pretty strong so having a plan to install it helps. I usually do a video once I get it all figured out.

I think I should be good with the face RHINO has offered at least to begin with.

Stay tuned.

So the final product is vinyl over the existing face? Just trying to understand the end goal here.

Looks great. Sorry if you posted the video before, it helped explained everything.

Hello all I have the first version of this setup and looking pretty good.

This is the 160kph but I will have the 180 done shortly. Also I will work on the newer models now that I have everything pretty well worked out.

Can someone tell me the years and model this face is for. It's kind of embarrassing but I don't know.

I need to clean up a few things and do an installation video but if you are interested in getting one pm me.

Also I can do +5 or +10 if you have bigger tires.

Stay tuned for the installation video and btw

hey Jack, looks awesome!!

would it be a PITA to add the KPH also in smaller yellow numbers? (ATL's pic above)

regardless, i'm in for a +10, bigger tires and 4:88's

Wondering what the status of this is. I have the 180 KPH face identical to @woytovich's face. I'd like to get a dual kph/mph face as I'm not sure I want to go through changing everything over to actual miles (odometer etc.)

I have a backlit face - is there any way to make that work? Is there enough light scatter from other lights on the dash to make it useable?
