I tackled the driver side soft top door today. It was the worst one out of the two. Had some tube on the scrap metal shelf that matches perfectly. Used a sheet metal dolly that was the same radius of the doors. Heated the metal and drew it around the dolly in the vise. I will just have to drill new holes for the weatherstrip channel. Tomorrow the pass side will get done. No radius' on that one. Easy peasy.

Passenger side is finished. Sand and paint will be soon and then new canvas.

The black bezel has always bothered me, but wasn't on the priority list. Had rain day Thursday, and replaced the water pump gasket that had a slow leak. Ended up stripping off a majority of the thick black paint to reveal that original Cygnus white. Going to leave it just the way it is.

Agree. Your bezel now looks great just the way it is.

I didn't really like the way the new Spring Green paint matched the old on the body repairs I did. So this morning I went to a paint shop, that has done some color matching for me in the past, and took a kick vent with me. The result is a perfect faded Spring Green in 5 spray cans. FST bows, doors and running boards will be matched to the patina on the truck. I will also be sanding and repainting the areas of body work I did. Pretty excited about it.

Can you share the specs on the spray paint they mixed for you? And did you go to a specialty paint shop or just a standard paint supply house? Asking because I’m at the same point with my 40. Thanks!

Its a paint supply. I gave them the paint code to start with and the guy just mixes by sight to match. Took him about 15 mins to get it matched.

You kicked me into gear…I’m at the paint store now getting some mixed.

Snagged this minty guy for a great price tonight off Fakebook marketplace. March 31,1980. It was on a fire truck all its life. Going to go on my '76 40. Its dirty but really clean, if that makes since.

Got my hubcap rings from @cruisermatt welded on and front caps secure. Thought I had rear caps, but I must've been lying to myself. Plus I forgot that I needed a ring for the spare, sooo Matt, I will be sending you another PM for those. Also got my trans to t-case bypass hose from @shipmag installed along with some tailgate chain covers I got off of Etsy.

Picked up 5 Firestone MT2 tires chambered in 255/75/17 yesterday for $600. Heep guy put bro wheels and tires on. They have 50 miles on them. Figured it was time to paint the wheels with the old tires so I didn't have to tape off around the new tires after they are mounted.

I think I am going to have to add the hubcap rings to the website. :)

Got the 255's mounted today. They measure a true 32" tall and 10" wide on the 17x7.5" wheels. 1/2" taller than the 33x10.5x15 BFG's on the '76, which only measure out at 31.5".

After weeks of trying to get the timing and carb dialed in, I finally got it running great. Lean drop on the carb has it idling at 650 rpm. Took it for a short drive just to get it up to temp. Alignment is next. Work has begun on a hard top for this winter.
