actually, the title is misleading: there were numerous domestic and foreign makes and models represented - close to 1000 exhibits in all

but as for Mr. T products (and other Asian makers), there were very few (hence my verdict of 'lame' participation):

the "Asian" section had exactly this one vehicle:

there was a Lexus cabriolet who chose to park with the Porsches:

and a restomodded 40 in the "Offroad" section: (he never takes it offroad, though, he told me - fact sheet on the side window invited inquiries and claimed a price of $86,000)

Yeah that 40 was a joke. I stood next to him while he held court with several people. His "knowledge" of Land Cruisers is so incorrect. Plus my number one peeve with 40 owners... the grille is missing the little rubber spacers between the grille and the bib. And you want $86k? 🙄🤣

We already talked about smashing the offroad section next year.

Agreed not much Asian stuff, sadly. The CVCC Civic was cool to see.

I told him about the bezel spacers, and how he can make them himself out of rubber tubing - he was "impressed with my level of detail knowledge"

he didn't even know whether he still had course spline birfs  - (there's some disk conversion on both axles, but he had no clue what was done) - he doesn't wrench on the truck himself, but has a 'builder' - I asked who it was, but he wasn't forthcoming

he claimed that it took 2 years to find an 8274 Warn ("it's a historic model, you know"), and that they had to send it out for high dollars to have it rebuilt - I watched Kevin take mine apart, it isn't rocket science, really

he also complained about wander, with 13.5" width tires; yeah, so . . . (have to give it to him, all his suspension bushings were brand new) - plus, he wants to switch out the TBI for a carb "that can function at any angle, which the TBI doesn't" :hmm:

Ha. I know that rig. He bought it already built and a buddy of mine occasionally works on it for him. I’m hoping to have my 75 series pickup in it next year along with my latest purchase from today - 1981 pickup! We need more Toyota 4x4’s next year!

Appears to be a 69. Was there some sort of aftermarket heater A/C? Obvious the original heater was gone.

yes, he has a Vintage A/C unit

The one thing I wouldn't want to give up. Does vintage make a heat pump? :hmm:

Do you mean a combination heater and A/C or a HVAC style heat pump that the uses the compressor for both? I do believe Vintage does make a under the dash unit that have both a A/C evaporter and heater core. Personally can't give up the heater. Working collecting parts for stock A/C knee freezer and an inline evaporter that replaces the duct between the heater and blower.

I spoke to the same guy at Good Guys. That rig is a hodgepodge, he is fishing in the right place for big money though👍 If it isn’t Italian and have a owner with a trophy wife that has no idea where the drain plug is then it has no place at the Concours! It is the same crowd as Cars and Coffee at the Ferrari dealership.

Yes it's a 69.

I can't recall whether it had a hood spear, though :hmm:

Is it supposed to be just a high end show? that guy with the 40 needs to be horse whipped.

Well it is a "Concours". But it's not all that. A little something for everyone unless you're into JDM or offroad. I don't consider a Gladiator with every single bolt-on bauble and a For Sale sign of $120,000 to be offroad. There was a Earth Roamer rig. Several helicopters. A Shelby Cobra club. The 60-70s muscle car area was well attended. It's a good time.

/this\

and most of the people exhibiting there didn't take themselves too seriously, either
