To the steering column, just above the steering gear on the frame.

Right above the steering box on the steering column.

I could get you a picture of how it mounts to the bottom of the steering column tomorrow.

Partially dismantled but you get the idea. When you put it in reverse that shift link that is still there should hit the switch. The R1->23 selector is not installed at the moment.

I am having a hard time locating one of these switches for my '71 FJ40. Any ideas of where to get one? Most of the ones online that i am finding are for a floor shifter not a column??

I looked around back in 2011 and couldn't find a source for one. Ended up just cleaning up the existing one. Maybe a WTB in classifieds or look for a parting out if you're lucky.
