The larger diameter bolt goes from the bracket to the top. The powder coating makes the holes smaller, and sometimes they throw in random bolts that are completely not what is needed. I needed longer bolts than what was supplied for the brackets in the front.

I had to overdrill and elongate nearly all of the bracket holes to allow everything to fit. It would have been easier if the brackets came with out being pre-drilled. Also, don’t drill the holes in the poptop until it is glued and clamped. I pre-drilled, and the top ended up being in a slightly different position, so I had to do modify the holes some more.

Hopefully that helps you.

Photos are rear, middle and front bracket. You can see the larger gap between the bracket and top in the last photo, which is the front bracket.

And, I need to cut the side stiffeners on the brackets to allow the closure flashing to be installed. A problem for much, much later

Wow! Thank you. I will be bolt shopping this afternoon. Never thought about the finish trim not fitting. You are a time saver my friend.

Your Finnish trim may fit… my brackets sat too low because of where the holes in them were drilled. I was surprised at how “off” they wer. But my truck is an 86, so maybe the roof supports in newer trucks are higher… maybe

Questions of the day?
1) big bolt goes to the Kronos and little bolts go to Troopy? (Big bolts are bigger than holes will need to drill out)

2) these brackets don’t come near to fitting at any position. Am I on my own to fab new ones or has anyone frankenfit these with some modifications?

Thank you for your comments and photos if you have any.

I'll get you pictures of mine tonight, will text. I also only used the lower bolt hole in the bracket in the top most bolt hole on the troopy roof support.

A great product with crappy brackets. Why not go the little bit extra and leave a nice taste in the mouth.

Didbyou ever get a CADD file for the interior? In search of one as well.
Currently being finalized, probably a couple more weeks until it's done.

Wow, I hope it comes out the way you want. I'm really just looking for the side panel layout so I can get some cnc cut out. I'll through you some bones, of if you have the old file that may work too?

CNC file for side panels is somewhere online, I've seen it floating around. Not helpful I know, but it is out there.

I'll let you know how they work out. I may cut out the table and do a little fab work myself. Only time will tell.

Yes, brackets on both sides of the truck. View attachment 3755627
Sean,
Sorry to barge in but it looks fantastic! I am glad you were able to take it to a spot I couldn't. I miss it but it's clearly in way better hands.

Hey all, the days are getting longer and I am getting more and more excited for Troopy trips. Has anyone worked out a roof rack or other roof top storage on top of the pop-tops? Looking for ways to put come solar up top as well as a box for lighter infrequent use items (hiking boots, tents etc.)

I would just use the m6 or m8 bolts in the rails up top and use an L bracket to connect to the rails.

At least that's my rudimentary idea for my planned solar. But it probably won't work when I try 🤣

I like that idea for the solar. L brackets from the rails to the frame of the panels. We have a Roam box I'd like to mount towards the rear. Thinking I need a platform or a couple cross bars to distribute the load a bit more and to offer more connection points. So far the All-Cab flat bars look like a decent option, still researching platforms.

Here's what I did.

Great approach, I will likely do something similar. Your build is coming along nicely!

Has anyone mounted speakers on the cubby of the top up front? Or attached flush mounted speakers to the soffit of the pop up bed?

Looking for inspiration.

No, but putting them in shelf/cubby up top is a great idea. Do you know about the door speaker/cubby that @c2dfj45 imported/has? They are a nice solution, but your idea may produce better sound.

I have a different bed platform than what came in the group buy. My platform has a shelf aft of the access hatch, and I’m planning on adding some down facing speakers there for some sounds in the rear.
