Advisor says clicking went away after replacing the front drive axle assembly. Any idea how much this would normally cost outside of warranty? Thinking about slipping my guy a little propina
Care to measure the center of wheel to fender distance on high?
I generally don't like this measurement since it's so hard to get center of hub, but here's my best attempt.
FWIW unless you're comparing against other people, I recommend top-of-center-cap (or in your case top of the circle inside the center cap). It'll be a inch or two less than center-of-hub, but it's pretty easy to tell where the top is (unlike trying to find dead-center of the hub which might leave you off by 1/4" or so).
Hey @TeCKis300, what specialized tools would I need to DIY this repair? From digging through other threads, it looked like all I needed was an axle popper kit from OEM tools:Sorry to see you having unexpected CV issues. Hope you can get the warranty repair as the CV is not a cheap part. I don't know how much the dealer charges to swap the part, and it does take some specialized tools to press it out, but it's not a terribly hard job. Probably could be done in 1-2 hrs. A pro could easily do it in under 1 hr.
The wheel spacer and tires do not affect alignment. The CV replacement job also shouldn't affect alignment as they will likely only need to disassemble the lower ball joint bracket.
What @linuxgod might be interpreting is that lift does affect alignment, and large diameter tires does impact suspension geometry, such that alignment may want to be tailored for those changes.
