Good morning,

I have occasionally noticed a slight tapping/clicking sound on my 2018 w/ 51K miles. I often will start the LX and let it idle for a few moments while I load the car etc. On rare occasions I hear what sounds like valve tapping or similar while the car is idling in my driveway. After driving for a few moments this sound is gone. Oil level is good and all maintenance is current. Is this sound something I should investigate further?

I noticed the same thing on my 2018 w 65k over the last week or two. I switched to 5w-30 years ago. Seems like it's more on driver side. Goes away after driving for a bit.

Lots of 3URs do that. Thicker oil helps.. but won’t always eliminate it.

That's just Toyota's way of letting you know your engine in finally started to get broken in.

I forget how clickity clackity mine is and I’m only 30k miles on the clock. I try to drive it once every week to 10 days and firing up that big V8 after tooling around in my hybrid mini van is quite the difference.

Posted about the same issue - my rig is in the shop for another reason, will put 5W30 in when I have it back to see if that helps.
