Chains are becoming "old school". Tire socks are where it's at: Tire Socks

???? how is this tech?

Fine - Have it moved, thought it was interesting they were using an 80 series, seems lifted, but can't find that style chain on their sight for anything bigger than std 80 series size. Think v-bars are what I really need considering the ice we have here.

Tire socks for a mall cruiser...like slippers in your house.

Chains for work and play.

Big beefy MUD Chains!

So remaining a little 80 tech, these have been the best chains I have used on my 80.
Laclede Alpine Super Sport™
Light Truck and SUVs - Laclede Chain Manufacturing (SS)

Had a set for my 285/75/16's. Friend has them for his 315/75/16. I sold mine with my tires, and haven't gotten around or had an real need at the time to buy a set to fit my 315's.

Not that chains do much better, but if these socks can be durable enough to be able to get driven on a dry pavement, that would be sweet....

Putting on chains is a bit intimidating to me, mainly because I have never done it. But I bet if I practice it a few times it would not that difficult.

which style of these were you using (recommend)?

the first ones look like exact copies (or vice versa) of the Rudd chains which ive only heard good things about.

anybody find some chains for 37s?

I was using the model down in size, but this is what I would buy for my 35's. (yes the first pic, X or V or whatever pattern ;) )

Laclede Alpine Super Sport Truck Chains

Looks like the size below are 37's. Model # is the last.

boy, from that tire sock site - they have some pricey snow chains....

I just keep debating on if I want to get any or not this year. Could have used them the last couple years, but survived just fine without them - would have been more willing to help recover folks from ditches if I had them, as is it was enough to just keep myself moving.

 and don't look fun to put on. The ones I posted are 1/4 the price and not too bad to throw on.

I bought my 80 so that I did not have to put on chains. That said, CHP requires that you have chains in the vehicle and sometimes on the vehicle, even with 4WD. California (the Nanny-State) falls apart with the smallest amount of snow on the ground; truly as if the sky was falling.

On a separate chain note, I like the X style better than the horizontal style. Seem to be better and not as rough/bumpy while driving.

I use my chains a few times per year. I have the 5.5mm square links form tirechain.com I would like to get some RUD style as they offer better lateral stability. They are not that hard to put on after you've done it a few times.

For anyone living in the western mountains I definitely recommend owning a set. Especially if you want to play when the weather is bad.

True, only times I have used mine we were real deep and purely for play to see if we could summit. 99% snow driving the 80 is non issue.

That's my 80 in the ad :grinpimp: Run them chains on all 4's quite often up in the snow and they work very well.

Yep Ty, that pic in the ad is 33's, the chains you got off me I do believe. 35's now and one set are the "ice grippers".
