Yep Ty, that pic in the ad is 33's, the chains you got off me I do believe. 35's now and one set are the "ice grippers".

and went backsold to your buddy :). Do want to find another set of those for my 35's, but by then I may be on 37's  Those were/are great chains.

I was using the model down in size, but this is what I would buy for my 35's. (yes the first pic, X or V or whatever pattern ;) )

Laclede Alpine Super Sport Truck Chains

Looks like the size below are 37's. Model # is the last.
37X13.5-15
365/65R16
325/60R20
#2539

ah, I didnt' see them availble for 37's - so good for another option - though an expensive one.

I bought my 80 so that I did not have to put on chains. That said, CHP requires that you have chains in the vehicle and sometimes on the vehicle, even with 4WD. California (the Nanny-State) falls apart with the smallest amount of snow on the ground; truly as if the sky was falling.

Steve

It's not just Cali- Wyoming and other mountain states doo it to. I"m o.k. with that - if it was just a matter of you falling off the road and killing yourself I would be fine with that - since you might hit me on your way, I'm ok with them requiring it. - Political rant off.

This has to be a first - I'm used to tech threads disentigrating into chat, not chat threads disentigrating into tech!

I chain up all four almost every week end, run a trigg studded, cam locks. the only way to fly, expensive though, cost me about 300 per set.

On a separate chain note, I like the X style better than the horizontal style. Seem to be better and not as rough/bumpy while driving.

I have a set of the diamond pattern style chains instead of the horizontal style. The horizontal style chain tends to flop around more (the horizontal sections) if not tight on the tire, whereas the diamond pattern remains taunt a bit better.

the diamond ones seem to be hard to find for a 37" tire

To those that think they don't need chains because they bought an 80 series, try driving across wyoming on 2" of ice...........the whole way. this is easy and stress free with chains.

Not to mention when the deep stuff stops your locked 80 with 37's, your locked 80 with 37's and chains will keep going and going and going. Plus those steep icy decents have a little less pucker factor.

I bought the biggest chains I could get at walmart (fit 285//75/16) for $50 a pair and spent about $30 on some extra chain and quicklinks at Home Depot for a total of $130. I have abused this set up to no end, spinning on rocks, mud, snow, pavement and it has always worked well, plus it is a custom fit, so they are TIGHT, no slapping or rubbing ect at 30mph.
