Whats this crappie? Couldn't find a part similar to that description either

What year and model do you have? A number of engines were available on the 80 series.

I suppose they could be referring to the Mass Air Flow sensor, which can be cleaned.

Stay away from the dealers now more than ever.
New car sales are way down and they need to make money somehow!

Neither do I!
I figured someone here would know. I hope they didn't just add some bogus bs...
Not to mention, I have an ABS light I need to figure out. And an airbag light, but I think it's bc the last owner redid the leather, or just got a new wheel all together but I'm sure that triggered the light.

Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated on those last issues

@BettyWhite : Can you describe what problems the vehicle is having ie: how does it run, drive, etc?? Why did you take it to a dealer?

The Airbag lamp (SRS) can be reset with a high end scanner/diagnostic tool or there's a quickie method described in a few threads. IME if the vehicle had a dead battery for awhile that can trigger the light even with nothing wrong with the Airbag system. Or maybe if when the steering wheel was removed and replaced they didn't reconnect the airbag wiring??

The ABS light can be due to a damaged wire, metallic debris on the tip of a sensor, or a frozen ABS pump motor (from internal rust), or a problem with a circuit board/computer. You need to find out what the ABS code is by using a diagnostic scanner. Did the dealer do that already (get an ABS code)?

Did the dealer mean to say Fuel Pressure Regulator?? (and what's wrong with it)

What is the problem with your speed sensor?

If the speed sensor is defective it's very easy to replace (like 15 minutes). DENSO makes the original part for Toyota and sells the exact same "aftermarket" part available at some online parts sellers for around $100. Denso part # 949973-0021 The Toyota part is available from Amayama for ~$110 shipped

The price quoted to replace the speed sensor, if it's even required, is pure thievery, run from that dealer.

Best solution might be to find a good Land Cruiser mechanic (or local MUD member) who knows your model (not a Toyota dealer).

Kernal wrote a very thorough reply. I will just add that pulling the steering wheel without disconnecting the battery will definitely trigger a permanent airbag light.

The Factory Service Manual (FSM) is an important tool that we all use. My advice is to go to the resource section here and download it. It has a thorough diagnostic section.

It’s possible he disconnected the airbag, so the light is on. I disconnected my passenger side because my kids sit there and I dont trust 28 year old air bag technology. So now my light is on permanently, unless I disconnect the light in the instrument cluster.

Labor $380 to replace a speed sensor HAHAHAHA. Wow.
Literally nothing in the way to get to it. Sparkplug replacement is more involved than that job. I replaced my speedo gear and the o-ring after a good year of waiting to get around to it... I was so mad at myself for waiting as I've spent more time on every other fix on the 80.
