I just added this to my supercharger engine rebuild thread but not a lot of people make their way over to it so I figured I would start a new thread with this info for anyone that is considering doing the same.

- I used Engineered Applications in Vernon, CA.
- The one set of manifolds was $180
- The cast manifolds have 3mil chrome finish
- The heat shields have 1mil satin black (looks like plastic)
- Total turn around is 2 days
- Done to reduce under hood temperatures

Now ya wont want to get it dirty....

Very clean. Nice.

Not sure if that is stainless or chrome-plated hardware mounting up the shields, but that might be a consideration as well (more for corrosion-free aesthetics in the long-term than anything else).

Love it!

Turned out great, can't wait to see them installed.

The hardware is also ceramic coated. I had them silvered just for looks. Could have done them in black just as easily.

I thought those looked special. I found some cool hardware for the 390 I cleaned up recently. Very cool.

I need to bust out some pics of my 396. I promised myself I would never put that kind of money into an engine again. I'm not even close even still :meh:

Nice! That's been on my to do list...might have to take a trip to Vernon.

field communiqué using IH8MUD

Looking very nice. Would doing the same to the upper air intake manifolds help keep the intake air cooler by shielding it from the engine bay heat?

Yes it will and I am doing those as well AFTER I port and polish them.

I also did this to the air filter canister to reduce even more temps:

Wow that turned out really good. Keep us posted on how the temp reduction works out when its up and running.

I think i would have gone CHROME.

That manifold looks awesome. I would hate to put that on a engine. Would look tight on the coffee table or as a huge paper weight.:hillbilly:

If you see it, its chrome. Or rather chrome finish. I agree, its borderline artwork. :grinpimp:

Have you considered sending your intake to ExtrudeHone? They were just a small company across the street from my Jr. High school in North Huntingdon, Pa when I was a kid. My dad used to have them prep the jug on my race bike back in the day. I had my intakes done on my 5.0 Mustang, and the intake, heads, and exhaust manifolds all done on my 442. It is a really neat process and the airflow is superior to hand blending.

Recall the pricing? I've heard of the process but never really looked into.

Interested to hear your results as far as under hood and intake temps. I've been thinking about the same kinds of modifications. The gold tape is a little hard on my eyes but if it works its worth it. Do you plan to wrap the exhaust manifold too?
