Need the extra eye of folks here as i was going to replace my muffler/resonator since breaking some of the 25+ year old exhaust cushions during an offroad trip (and the universal mount my OEM muffler had on the rear from its previous life). Crawled under and it appears that the entire exhaust has been welded in all mating locations between parts?

What was supposed to be where the resonator pipe and rear muffler pipe meet, not a bolt in sight.

Am I looking at a complete exhaust replacement or what suggestions would there be to separate the muffler from the cat while having a reasonable shot at bolting up an oem muffler without the system leaking (and not welding)?

If you want to do something without welding, you're probably looking at a full system replacement, downpipe to resonator.

If you know a decent shop, they may be willing to weld a flange on your cat, and you can bolt on the remaining components.

Removing it is probably going to involve a sawzall.
