Can you Turbo a 3FE?

how's the setup working long term?

you happy with it?

anything you would change?

get it on a dyno yet?

Couldn't be happier. I finally settled on 6psi with a little timing advance as well. I run 91 octane just in case and have never heard any signs of detonation. The additional injector controller and wideband have really set this project apart from my previous homegrown turbos. Pretty much tune it and forget about it.

Dyno: Ran a thread a while back about my dyno trip. The particular dyno used offered no "drum resistance", therefore the tranny was a bit confused on the shift points. I kept getting lean results on the AFR and had to keep backing out of it. After slight fuel adjustments the truck managed to lay down 251ft. lbs at the wheels, but I was never able to get a solid HP number. 212 ft. lbs (crank) minus driveline loss, up to 250@ the wheels equals total transformation in my book. Seat of the pants and throttle response are to die for.

They do make dynos with resistance capabilities, and I would be interested in giving it another go If I can locate one.

Could you do a similar set up but rear mount the turbo by the axle (no muffler)? Saw a lot of these homegrown projects on the net done for cheap with great success, however they were done on cars.
Connect it right on the exhaust pipe, remove the muffler (turbo will act like one anyways) place a shield to block water splash (wont be able to go deep in water no more), run a shuflo oil pump as a return to the oil pan, longer intake pipe would act as a quasi intercooler.
Sounds possible or am I smoking crack?

Resurrection for sure, but did you add an injector or are you using the the cold start injector? Or am I way off an the split second controller over rides the ECU and adjusts the OEM injectors?

2 additional 30lb injectors. Split Second Controller operates completely independant of the factory ECU.

Dude you can turbo anything with an intake and exhaust!!! Including your spouse!!!!!Bahahaha

sweet setup. what psi are you currently running? is it a stock rotating assembly? where did you tie in for the oil pressure and return hose for the turbo? thanks

Getting all the gear ready to turbo my 3fe, I'm already running a haltech e6x ecu so that part is easy

Going to run a gt28/71, internal gated
1fzfe injectors
Front mount
3" exhaust

Il post progress shots as I go

got a link to your thread? also, I was recently told the 3FE and 1FZFE used the same injectors from the factory(rumor)...can't wait to start readin...

Il start a thread once I start the build. 3fe and 1fzfe have the same injectors(Bosch style) only difference is the flow rate.
Looking at running 6/8 pound and should get around the 230hp mark

Is the OP still around?

With my rebuild running smooth I think the turbo is a natural progression. Would like to have a convo

The OP sold the truck and returned it to stock. I bought the turbo and plumbing from him and am building it into a 3FE 40 series with megasquirt control.

link to thread?
