can anyone tell me how to install windshield glass into frame?

Don't use any sealant.
Hmmmm Why is that? The last time they fitted my glass in Pakistan, they didn't use sealant. Now when driving in the rain, it leaks...

I do not recommend using the glass cleaner, it will cause everything to slide around (i tried this several times). Then I used liquid soap where the rope goes, then pop the rope in. Also smear soap around the flange on the frame. 2 other people and patience!!!!!!:bang::bang: Thanks for the great write up and pics!!!

I popped the rear hatch glass out to flip it around (long story... Not relivant). When I went to put it back in, I couldn't find a length of rope around that was the right size...:hmm: And strong enough

Then I spotted the refil coil of weed eater line... I cut off about 6', and it worked perfectly. The silky smooth, 0.08", and essentially unbreakable line, didn't scuff the 40 year old rubber seal, and it pulled it inside the steel frame of the hatch. When I was finished, I wrapped it back up, and have a length ready to refill the Weed wacker.

OK, I get the rope idea... it's the sealant part I don't understand so well. I bought a new windshield and new gasket. I'm thinking of attaching the gasket to the glass first with sealant to keep it in place. The question is, do I run a bead of sealant in the gasket groove before placing the rope in there... wouldn't it get really messy as the rope is extracted? Or do I install the windshield with the rope (and a couple of friends) and then try to pry the gasket around the frame and then try to insert the skinny tip of the sealant tube in and squeeze a bead in there and then wipe everytning off.
I did order the Mudd recommended sealant from Amazon.
Thanks everybody

You're welcome..............

I did the pix and write up 'cause it's hard to describe it without them............

Is this easier with the windshield frame mounted on the vehicle, or off? I have another frame that I'm prepping to swap out and it needs a windshield glass. Should I wait to install the frame first?

Thanks,

Skip

I would not try it unless frame is solid mounted somehow........
