Hey guys back for yet another adventure in my 1998 LX470 that I bought on a whim here in Georgia, for a mere sum of $1800. As you could have guessed it, the car came with some issues, and the seller was not very upfront about them from the getgo. Though he may have thought he was slick with covering up the issues, thankfully he wasn't bright enough to realize that all-in-all they aren't TOO Bad.. but are a pain in my rear end to deal with.
I am in the process of replacing my CV Axles with OEM Toyota parts and the whole kit and kaboodle around cone washers, flanges, gaskets, oil seals.. you name it, full package. I was under there pounding away to loosen what was left of the ORIGINAL CV axle, of which traveled 376k miles without as so much as a hitch. I even did a trip from Atlanta to Miami ROUNDTRIP of nonstop driving and Cuban food binging ( relax, my seats are just as torn as yours, I'll reskin em' and not eat in the new ones) adding over 1k miles on her all while foolishly pushing my luck on those trusty yet delicate CV axles. I knew that boot was more torn than most cheerleader outfits but man was I not expecting the drive that scared the bejeezus out of me. I had recently found a solid deal on a Global knife set ( for those of you who cook you know what's good) and arranged to meet the seller in a suburban shopping center. I ended up running a bit behind and so gave my driving a more "spirited" touch shall we say, and tried to beat the clock. I was probably going 70-76 mph continuously and I made it as so far as off of the highway ( mind you after 15 miles) and sure enough as I start braking in the corner the passenger side wheel locks up and does not let go. the CV was completely busted, along with the brake caliper freezing onto the wheel. Super scary experience, and taught me a lesson not to avoid it. SO, here we are .
And of course, since I gave you all this context... the moment we have been waiting for:
What is this line that is rusting to pieces here? Does anyone have the part number? I might as well replace it since I am so deep into the money pit, but man oh' man I hope it isnt difficult to do.
All help appreciated folks... and thanks for reading all of this craziness. Phew.
