As far as I got today. EGR came off without breaking a stud. Air rail too.

Ran down to Brookhaven Toyota today and picked up this beautiful piece today.

These things are so beautiful. Totally makes the engine area pop when it’s finished

Tomorrow I head to Powder Keg and get some real work

Dropped off the tires to get mounted and then grabbed the pallet.

Part 1 of the pallet is mostly installed. Still need to mount up the front shocks.

The Dobinsons springs go on butter smooth every time. Bushings fit good. Springs are the proper length. Sitting pretty. I have this setup on my 60 and it will settle a good bit from here

What are the advantages of these over the stock 15” chrome wheels?

Tire selection?
Weight?
Aesthetics (hub caps)?

Thx

Moving to a 16” wheel puts you in a much better tire selection. This tire is a true 33x9.5 which is a great tire for a 40/55/60
Weight is about the same
I like the steel wheel look. I don’t like hubcaps on 60s but don’t mind the clips because the wheel width, backspace are perfect

Basically a non-US split wheel look

Roger that.

Follow up: MTs don’t really make sense for our location, (NM and CO..no mud). Do you have a favorite AT? Or are those Yokos so good you just run them everywhere, including the highway?

I prefer a 31”, bit more stock(ish) and my wife is short. Any ideas?

Thanks for your time….

What you will find (or not find) is a very limited range of sizes and styles in anything with a 15” wheel.
Lots of good info here. Things have changed even more in the 15” wheel space in 3 years.

60 series like 33” tires. Lowers the highway RPM.

I think Aussie companies compete to have the worst directions.

Got it hung. Lots more to do to wire it and hang the swingouts but the rough stuff is over

I run the same tires on my BJ74. Excellent tires. I only wish they had like a 34.5" version. Smooth, great traction and IMO not anymore more slick on snow/ice than any A/T I've run (Michelin/BFG). I have about about 25,000miles on mine and still good tread, quiet and smooth.

You could always run the 235/85r16 which is slightly smaller than the 255 size.

235/85-16 = 31.73"
255/85-16 = 33.07"

I have the 285/75-17s on my 80. They are 34 x 11. Love them.

The Dobinsons is done. It took me a long time because there are zero directions. Got it now.

I have all these swingouts for my 80 bumper but I did not want to block the ambulance doors and left them off so I did not know all all the parts went together. I got it though.

Now I have to wire it up with this awesome diagram I found on the site
