Kinda all over the place this afternoon.

Welded the O2 bung in. Also, readjusted the rear bumper and welded the washers to the bumper to lock in the tune. @Ozark cruiser recommended this for my 80 and it’s a solid mod.

Added the H4s and a stainless battery tray

Then I hooked up the fuel system

I’ll bang around another hour and see what else I can accomplish

Only got a few hours with C Brown this am and had to leave for a work trip

Gave it a good tight cold valve adjustment

The PO had used a local shop and they “could not find” the proper heater valve so they had eliminated it

First time to use these little Toyota clamps @OGBeno told me about. I still love the wire clamps but for the small, hard to reach stuff these should be very nice

Those hose clips aint cheap but satisfying nonetheless.

The Dobinsons is done. It took me a long time because there are zero directions. Got it now.

I have all these swingouts for my 80 bumper but I did not want to block the ambulance doors and left them off so I did not know all all the parts went together. I got it though.

Now I have to wire it up with this awesome diagram I found on the site

I installed one of those on my BJ75 and it had me swearing and feeling like an idiot. It was my first time installing a bumper, but I couldn't believe how long it took. Glad I'm not the only one who thought the instructions were completely useless. A year on I'm not impressed with how the powder coat is holding up, or should I say not holding up.

As always, very nice build.

Adding parts and hoses where I can. Waiting on powder to complete the cooling system and reinstall all these pretty Toyota parts.

Redid all of the dissy with OEM parts. PCV, vacuum lines for charcoal and dissy.

Added some struts to the hood versus using the rod. This is a great mod. All you need is 2 M8 rivnuts.

Doing the same job to my 60 rn. Thanks for the photo with all the part numbers. Do you always delete the rear heater? I'm debating, I know some people like to remove the extra failure point but it seems like any hose is a failure point. 🤷‍♂️

I do. Way too many failure points. The hard lines looked sketchy. There is so little gain in normal climates.

Hell I delete the oil cooler on most of my builds too. I just finished adding all those damn weirdo hoses.

I like simple and reliable.

Picked up the pieces at Powder Keg this morning. Beautiful as always.

Went ahead and did the oil galley plug. This 109,000 mile 2F should have many miles left in it. Don’t need an hour of labor making it die a needless death. A right angle drill makes this pretty painless

Putting it back together

New air pump delete pulley and smog delete stuff from @FJ40Jim. Toyota belts of course.

Beautifully done valve cover with new OEM gaskets and cap with powdered bolts

wait...so is my t case an electrical hazard?

There should be a factory ground back there. Its not a huge deal if all your stuff is working now.

Tcase to body.

Bellhousing to frame.

Firewall to head.

Battery to motor mount, or in my case I usually use an alternator bracket bolt to the head.

Funny, I just crawled under my rig after I saw your post and sure enough, I have a tiny little ground wire on my T-case too. Never noticed it!

Great stuff! On the oil galley plug, do you pull the head bolt to capture the drill/tap debris...or manage it from the outside?

I coat the drill bit with Crisco and it keeps the shavings that don’t fall out in the bit.

There is not enough metal there to matter even if all of it went in the head in my opinion. Pulling the head bolt is a bit Mud neurotic like 2 greases in the knuckles.

Hahaha right. I hope it's organic Crisco.

With you on the simple and reliable. Can you even get the scoop hoses that go from the hard lines to the rear heater? I did this to my 40 previously and it’s so easy and clean compared to the 60. The WP to oil cooler is dumb on a 60 and I’m sure the a/c belt will make contact with the hose clamp at some point. It’s too close for comfort IMO.

The PO rattle Canned the grill and the truck so I had to make it right.

I took the grill that I had removed from Ole Blue when I installed the non US old stock I got out of Yemen and Powder Keg Cerakoted it.

Totally pimp.

Wow - I love this build. Reminds me of Nolen building my HZJ73. No detail left to chance. Everything first rate and well thought out. The owner is going to love this truck. I still discover little details on mine that make me smile. I suspect this owner will be doing the same soon. Nicely done, my friend. I remember when you were a hack like me!

Thanks man. It’s always fun to build them and having people that are willing to put the best parts into the builds is critical. You certainly did that.
