Buying tires-What would yall do?

I got mine through Sams Club/ with guarantee and mounting and balancing for around $950. I had to wait about a week for the locals Sams to get them in from TX but it was worth it! (33X10.50-15s BFG KM2s)

I would go with KM2s over the older ATs - my experience is that Discount will replace a warrantied tire that is no longer available with the most compatible newer one (run that as a spare until you get a second replacement and put them both on the same axle then)

less wander if you stick with 10.5s - easier with manual steering, too

Damn! Thats by far the cheapest Ive seen online. Thanks. I talked to BF Goodrich HQ to find out if they were going to discontinue the 33x10.5s and they said no. So sorry for the scare but thats what I was being told. Discount tire will price match and are trying to hunt down some 10.5 ATs for me. Ill let yall know what happens when I call in a few hours. Got my fingers crossed. Really have my heart set on the 33x1050 ATs

price

If I was searching for myself they'd been double that---you know how that goes:lol:

Final verdict Needing final opinions

I have ruled out MT tires for my needs. All terrains will just be better for me. No snow in TX and not much mud, just pavement and rocks for the most part. Final word from all the tire shops that will give me damage coverage, 33x10.5s not gonna be in for at least 3 or 4 months. So my options are as follows

5 32x11.5-15 w/mount balance and damage coverage=$1141

5 31x10.5-15 w/mount balance and damage coverage=$1064

they say they will price match so I can get a bit knocked off there if I look around. Thinking 11.5 wont be too killer w/out power steering but not sure. Final thought so we can let this thread fade into oblivion.

at's

yeah sounds like a good tire for your needs, sorry I missed the AT part

you are after BFGs only, is that right?

I have seen the 33s in 9.50 too--usually the source is under tall skinnies .. in search

I might try these guys sometime, or might be a money saver for a spare in the right size. I have actually heard a lot of good about them

Ben, I have 4 33x10.50R15 BFG AT TA/KOs being installed at 4wheelparts as I type. $870, including the warrantee for them, installed. They had to order them, and took 3 weeks or so to get in, but definitely wasn't too big of a problem.

Discount Tire had 4 of them in stock (or more) in Denver, but wanted quite a bit more (roughly $1100) for the same deal. But, they certainly had them in Denver just a couple weeks ago.

Hahaha, if your getting those put on your 84 then its a small world. They guy at 4wheelpart i was talking to as I read your post sad there were 4 in a store but were going on a guys 84 FJ60 at the moment. It cant be, lol. They did help me out though. They have the 32 11.5 and the 31 10.5s in stock and will put 33 10.5s on order for me. What ever is in when my wheels show up and I cant wait any longer(big camping trip in mid jan) Ill make my choice.
And for the record the damage coverage at 4wheelparts is much better than discount tire. They dont start pro rating till 50% tread wear and dont give you are hard time when the blow out due to off road use.
Thanks everyone for all the help. I love this web site

I just got set of 4 35 x 12.5 r15's at Discount. I bought four and with mount and balancing out the door costs me $1000 even. I went to 4 wheel parts and got a much higher quote there first then drove to discount and they will beat it every time.
I usually go to 4 wheel parts just to get a quote so I can get a better price anyways. I have always bought from Discount.

Those are going on the '84 FJ-60 in fact. Small world indeed. I am out of town for work right now, and I can't wait to get home on Thursday just to see those tires on the 60.

Discount tire will sell you coverage on the tires, even if you don't buy them there. Had factory road hazard on the OEM tires on my F-150...shreaded them and went to BFG 20" AT from the dealer (less adjustment and they matched discount tire pricing.) Drove over to Discount and bought the road hazard....they have replaced 4 of those $375/ea tires for just $65/ea for new coverage.

Big O Big Foots 31x10.5/15 mounted & balanced, with warranty for $724.88, granted that was in September, when they were having a sale.
