Same boat as you. Scratch finding a built one for that money. At least that is the market here. 150K 98-00 $13-16K here.

I've looked at 9 so far and none were in better cosmetic shape that my 80.

I had the same issue when I was looking for my 100. I did not find anything for sale in the Charlotte area that was worth buying. It took me about six months and I had to move up years and $$. Ended up buying from a Lexus dealer in Augusta ....

Keep looking, it is worth it ...

I don't think any 100's came with a rear locker only a centre locker.

98's and 99's (Toyota) came with the option for a factory rear locker...that's why I'm looking for one. But I have yet
to see a Lexus from that time period with a rear locker...Slee's newbie guide for hundys doesn't say one way or the other.

98 and 99 LX had a standard limited slip rear diff, no rear locker option.

98-99 LCs had rear/center lockers. 00+ have ATRAC/VSC and center locker.

98-99 LX470s had a limited slip rear end as I recall. Not sure if a rear locker was an option or not.

Edit: Firetruck beat me to it!
Edit 2: Apparently the forum runner app doesn't jump to the last page of the thread, so Firetruck beat me to it by several hours. Reading fail.

Correct, and the rear locker wasn't offered on the 98-99 LX, just the LSD.

Might be Selling.

Got a 2000 lx 470, all stock except for the borla exhaust system and tires which i may take also since they are brand new. Any ballpark price for you mudders? Interior is good except for the the front two seats are farely worn. Would also come with all alpine speakers and 4 channel alpine door amp and a 7inch touchscreen indash from pioneer.

HEY guys not sure how to post here but here goes. I test drove a 2000 LC last night. I have to say I was impressed to say the least. Truck was super clean no stains or smells aftermarket radio that was a touch screen with blue tooth. Exterior was in great shape must have been garagetd kept no rust for being a jersey rig and the paint shined like new. They are the pros here are the cons. Heated seats not working for either driver or passsenger. The front headlights both had some how can a say this perspiration. It look like some1 splashed water inside both. Thats really about it. Now the price was 12500 with 130 k. I know that seems high but thats the asking price at a dealer. I am going back this morning for another look it was dark when I got to the dealership last night. Then going to take truck on expressway to check out high speed driving brakes and alighnment. Any other suggestions let me know what I should look for thats just what I picked up last nightwhen i was there. thaniks guys

Part 2 Just got back from dealer. No idea if the vehicles timing belt was changed. Though the vehicle looks well cared for just dont know if it was done. Any idea what it would cost for heated seats to be fixed.? Both seats didnt light up or warm up, could that be just a fuse or something small?? I also took a good look underneath and yes there is some rust. Fnn New Jersey vehicles, but the vehicle was in Tennesee for the first 5 years of its life. There is a quarter size bump on the upper rear hatch of rust on the inside. All the doors are fine. The hood wont stay open unless you hold it up. Check all the fluids and they look good fresh u might say. Drove it on the highway today drove straight no cshake or shimmy. Brakes were good as well.

Pioneeer aftermarket stereo= blue tooth, ipod no nav though. Again 12500 is the asking and I think there might be just too many little things to make an offer on this. What does everyone thinkk??

Thanks for your time bruthas

Part 3 I just ran the vin. Timing belt and water pump done at 86k. The truck was dealer service from 2006 to present. The dealer had no idea about the history of truck. I could use this to my advantage. I was hoping to here back from someone by now.

As far as the heated seat issue should I try to trace the problem to see if its plugged in or use as a bargaining tool , also what about the dampness inside the headlights?? Im sure if its warm out there wouldnt be an issue but winter months could be an issue.

Or fwiw just wait and get a 03 like a really want?? signed confused 80 owner......

My understanding might be incomplete but it seems like the desirables are 98-99 or anything after 03 and that 2000-2002's are sort of the redheaded stepchildren...no locker, no 5spd auto. But it's a decent price that is inviting a lower offer and it's good that the timing belt and waterpump were done. To me, the non-op heated seats is a non-issue. If you really want it but think its priced a bit high (it's at a dealer so that's an assumed) offer 11K and see what happens...

^ I would say that 2000-02 is more desirable depending on your application. ATRAC is essentially an automatic double locker that outperforms a single rear electric/mechanical locker in most terrain/situations, and it is automatically transparent when not needed. Not to mention that you also get VSC, which is arguably a good safety feature. Plus you can install ARB locker on one or both axles and have the best of both worlds.

OTOH, you cannot install ATRAC on a 98-99. The electric locker probably out performs ATRAC in some highly technical/rock crawling applications.

Agreed, but isn't the A-Trac AND a 5speed auto (2003+) more desirable? I am not familiar with VSC...Vehicle Stability Control? I will say that I am biased to the 98-99 locker set up because it is what I'm familiar with. And being from Durango, I do a bit of Slickrock and rock-crawling.

Hey crow, where did you run the VIN to get maintenance records?

Personally, when I was last looking, I was looking for a 2000+, because it had Atrac, I wouldn't hesitate to get a 4 speed (having had one in my 98lx), and a 2000 can be had substantially cheaper than a 2003+. Now if money were no object, I would go for the later models with vvti and 5 speed tranny.

Toyota service records check.

Its link in toyota owners.com i just put in vin and it spit out some great information. It stated what the owner wanted and what service actual did. IE customer ask for syntheic oil- syn installed and changed. It even showed brake repairs, check engine light repairs plus the fixing of the mast anteena. Needless to say I was pretty stoked with all the information.

As for that 2000 im off it now the feeling is gone. Im getting 03 or newer when the time comes. My wife loves her 97 and wasnt that impressed with the 2000 she drove last night. I liked it of course. Her 97 runs great just got done doing the 90k service so its running like a top again. its amazing how fluid change makes all the difference in the world. So thanks again boys and run your vin through that web site. Its property of toyota you cannot run your lexus vin bcuz it wont work. till we talk again shaka brutha
