You say that now, and then you will want and need a part that Toyota stopped making or has jacked up the price on and then you will be so glad I have great used parts at a great price

I'm creating a heavy duty, billet aluminum version, with grade 8, zinc plated, ARP bolts. You can order it with or without hydraulic damping (5cc of hydraulic oil will be placed in a reservoir milled into it). There will also be an option for a premium "ih8mud Special Edition", which will be anodized brown and gold.

hello all. my name is darren and i've been lurking for a bit now and i'm currently searching for a hundy i can call my own. i currently own an 09 fjc and have modded it to allow me to run comfortably on black trails at rausch creek offroad park (just for reference). with the expanding family, i've decided that it was time to move to a hundy. i have a few questions which i have tried to search for answers for with some success. here is something i cant seem to find the answer for.
as of 2000, a-trac became standard i believe. does this engage automatically when needed when place into lo? i am used to a little button on my fj to engage this feature and have looked all over the dash of the 100's that i have seen and have found no such button, thus leading me to this guess of how it engages.
ATRAC is always available, weather you are in hi or lo. Uses ABS speed sensors and brakes yo produce what I would equate to a limited slip (not full locker) facsimile. Works well if used right I.e. easy throttle. It also engages weather or not your center diff lock is engaged. I think it's a great feature, but as you will read the 100 is know to have a weak front pinion. If you get really into hard wheeling you will want to upgrade to an ARB.

thanks for the reply. i've used a-trac quite a bit. i think it is great! now your response brings me to another question then... this weak front pinion... is this true for all years? i will have to read more. i dont really plan on doing as hard offroading as in my fj......yet

Oh yeah. Forgot o let you know that your thread would be moved.
98-99 is known to fail due to a weak 2 pinion front diff. 2000+ has a 4 pinion front, which some people still don't trust, but I have rarely heard of one failing. I chose to upgrade to ARB because I prefer a positive locker engagement. I think it's safer in many situations. And it should be bomb proof.

I dunno. I did a quick look up and found an 04 with 64K for $23,500 (asking price from private seller). As long as you feel like you got a good deal then you got a good deal.
