I'm looking at an 04 LX470 65K miles - about $27,500 from a dealer and that's with a trade. Thoughts??? My gut is telling me it can be a little lower. How much lower do you all think?

This probably has been asked before, but i can't find it.

Would you rather purchase:

2004 lx470 w/ 64,000mi or 2006 lx470 w/ 83,000mi?

Same condition, same price, same service history.

Is a new hundy with more miles better to purchase than an older hundy with less miles? assuming that they are 2003 or newer?

Normally I'd take low miles over newer, but in this case the 2006 picks up the VVTi motor and power goes from 235 to 275. So definitely go 2006. If the 2006 is sans Nav you'd have the perfect offroading machine.

Really??? 235-275? Is there a link that compares the features of the 2006/2007 lc's and lx's? I've been reading the slee newbie guide, but that stops at 2005. I didn't know that there was a difference in something as big as power. Glad i'm reading up first before i buy. I haven't found one without nav. I also didn't know they made them without. Time to read some more.

Yep, 2006-2007 got the 275 hp. Oh, and you get TPMS also. Yea.

No-Nav 03+ are as rare as hen's teeth, but they're out there. AHC also became an option in 06, but I don't think it was as 'standard' as the optional Nav.

ooo boy. i'm a bit confused. AHC was optional on the LC's in 06, but on the LX's they were standard from 1998? Actually, i think this is correct. going back and forth reading so many things... i have to start writing things down.

AHC was on option on LC's 06-07.

AHC was standard on LX's from 98-07

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Nope, you got it.

But a-trac was standard on all years (LC and LX) after 2000 correct? I'm figuring this is correct based on slee's guide. I think my focus has now gone from a 2004 to a 2006. Surprisingly, two 2006's are on the market near me. Time for a look see.

As a reality check, you're going to pay at least a $10k premium for that 06. Your original post was 'all other things equal'. As an FYI, a friend of mine just picked up an 03 with 91k for $19.5k. Granted, that was an uber deal, but I'm guessing that 06 is in the mid $30's. You can buy a lot of goodies for $10k and the 40 hp won't do much good for you on the trail (assuming that's your goal). Towing a boat the 06 might have significantly more utility. Not that it's not a nice rig, it's just not old enough yet to be in the same league as most of our trail rigs are.

The 2004 is the best year for the 100 series. Last year that the old vet's built them in Japan. Highest quality for 100's in 2004. I would still change the timing belts on both of them after you buy them, the 2006 needs in in another 7K miles and the 2004 because of time.

Thoughts on this truck would be much appreciated. anyone ever seen it in person? Its a long way from Kentucky...

40 more hp won't do much for me on the trail. This is a very good point. This is reality. Thank you.

I see this truck occasionally around town. It has more than average door dings but not bad by any means. I personally don't like the front bumper and the rear tail light guards have to go.
As far as the important stuff it looks well maintained. Add a diff drop to the lift and sliders and a front ARB and you would be set for a trail rig.

What front bumper is that? I have never seen that one. It might even look good with the damage multiplier part removed.
