@beno - I'm trying as hard as I can to keep these guys on track! :)

I'm approaching middle age, but hoping to use more of a 13B speed rather than a 13bt speed to get there!

It's funny that the 7x series section has become a stitch and bitch location for middle aged old guys (minus Delancy). It's very apropos. ;)

Onur -
I / WE AMUSE YOU? And why is Delancy excluded from this august crew?

Well at least I know for sure one of them is old-ER!
;)

Move along son.....nothing to see here....

Don't you have a 2F to dump more money into? :rimshot:

Ben -
Apologies for my part in causing your tech thread getting moved to Chat.

The shame of it...

Just when it was beginning to bloom too.....:bang:

Now everybody is gonna pile on.........:ban:

It is amazing how long 70s stayed off the Chat board (for the most part). I guess the secret is out. :(:(

My apologies as well. Guess it is time for me to self censor ;)

SWITCHES!

I need to do some more reading on 24V systems. I need some switches for some planned accessories. Do I need 24v specific switches and if so where can these be found?

Dan, are any Toyota OEM switches available for the 70 series? I'm planning to build a switch panel below the stereo to house everything.

Fog light, LED bar(spdt), reverse lights (spdt), compressor, front lock, rear lock.

If you are not careful this thread will get moved back to tech...

The only time switches are 12 volt specific is if they have pilot lights or are back-lit. For example my BJ74 4WD switch was very sad. I was not able to get a 24V BJ74-specific switch however the US-spec FJ62 switch was available. The only difference between the two was the backlight bulb. I swapped bulbs and I was in fat-city.

I wonder if these would work? www.otrattw.net They are LED backlit, and I think a lot of LEDs work across 10-30V.

I'd also plan on using an 80-series OEM dual locker switch/dial which is not illuminated so this should work fine.

They's some nice switches.

So, now that we're back talking tech, how 'bout some bolt on portal hubs for a little lift?

Ben -
No way on Earth. I am already poverty stricken.
The Burrito is a mall-crawling low-rider - don't need to worry about differential clearance.
If Mom ever lets me have another Toy....well, maybe there's something to talk about...like an HZJ79 on coils/portals.
I had a guy that wanted to pay good money for the fire truck and she wouldn't consider selling "her" truck.
Oh well...

Here's the thread from Olaf's build https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/finally-my-hzj-78-on-bolt-on-portals.574831/

Well, let's be honest, it's a bargain at 10,900 euros plus taxes and shipping but I think I'll have to pass for now!!!

Back to the 33" vs 35" debate...

TECH TECH TECH

Ben - If you want a REALLLLY authentic JDM 7X, ya gotta have some JDM aroma therapy goin' on.

These are some very neat Japanese air fresheners. I don't leave home without it....

The item below includes a holder and several refills. There are other scents and you can buy the refills in 10-packs.

Back to the 33" vs 35" debate...

Anything bigger than 33 and the brakes go downhill. It also becomes a pain if you want it as a DD. I actually prefer 32s.

Yes, I think for now will go with some 33x10.5x15s. Would like to go 34s or 35s but not ready to open up that can of worms quite yet. The truck has 31s currently fitted with ~50% tread left so might even run those for awhile, although it might look a bit silly with 31s and the 2-3" new OME lift.

Received the first batch of parts today, Hella micro de fog lights, bluesea dual usb plug, the IROK converter for the radio and the Pyle converter that others have used. Getting this all assembled and will send up to BC for the first round of work to be done before my arrival.

@wardharris Do you have those air fresheners in your car? That's another $19.49 I'd be taking out of the portal savings fund, so I'd like to try them first before buying ;)

With a 2"-3" lift this size tire will help fill up the wheel well opening.
