building more LPB beds... come watch

I was looking through Barry's thread on his LPB and found this picture - and noticed that the rear fender has a slight lip on it. Is that something that came on all FJ45 beds? Or was it an early thing? Is it something you tried to reproduce?

Yup, mine has the lip over the wheel arch if that's what you mean. My bed I show above does not have the lip because it was an earlier rendition. I am on the iphone but there are pictures in my old original thread of how I do it.

Still progressing and will be welding that lip this weekend on six sets. Hopefully late next week I will start assembling four beds.

Just a 3M P100 particle filter - essentially a glorified dust mask. I had been doing some grinding earlier and I just hate the smell and taste of the metal dust in the air. I find if I don't wear the mask it takes a good 24 hours before it goes away - even after a shower, you know, when your nasal mucus changes color

Looks like you're using a deburring tool on those edges? The machinists I used to work with had those, I've now forgotten what they look like. Pretty slick little tools though.

just read an interesting article on silcon-bronze lap welding............pretty cool how the contracting properties tighten up and the lap seats perfectly flush

BTW...drawing for the very early 40 and 25 front bumpers are on their way to you. Not sure if the early rounded bumpers were on the very early 45s also...maybe someone else would know.
