Don't know what happened there. ^^

Everything is cryo'd, front and rear.

R&P, axle shafts, and birfs.

Be inserting Rick's shaft in the rear, next few days, so pretty much sews up the OE bullet resistant axle....but no hydro and other issues have prompted further research.

Will know tomorrow, but think the steering stops are off, as in way off, and it allows the DS arm to go well past where it used to.

Hoping its not the housing, but can get a used reasonably (~$300).

RCV's .. but that would be a heavy axle .. weight it's in the equation ...?

Unsprung weight is good to keep you on the ground, it makes up for the huge bodies on these beasts

Just an off the cuff response, but just plan with your end goal in mind.

You could buy/keep the stock housing for $300 but you will spend or pay someone for several hours of cleaning the OEM brackets off the axle since you won't be using them. Then you will be welding new 3-link brackets to a sheetmetal housing. Or you buy a clean new housing made from thick tube, and get to set your caster angle. Or you could just keep the stock suspension and run it with-in its capability. lol.

If only it were that simple, considering the extent to which mine's far from stock, but it's wheelable and intend to, until all else can be figured out.

Latest developments on the replacement coils has me scratching my head, and don't want to replicate a similar situation in the future.

That said, I agree, but still have to have the ends for a Ruff Stuff housing.

Ruff Stuff $600 clean, plus no additional armor or trussing is in order, so it'd make sense....but it's not Toyota.

Why I give a crap is now beyond me, too.

Ford HI-9 with D60 knuckles using RCV D60 cv joints, looks kinda like OEM but bullet proof

It's gotta be all Toyota.

It's gotta be all Toyota.

FINALLY.

Where've you been through the course of my being berated here?

I'm just confused/conflicted enough right now, to do about anything a shop would suggest, if I could drop then damn thing off and pick it up with all my errors fixed, and a perfectly functioning hi steer/hydro/possible 3 link completed.

Ain't none of them gonna suggest sticking Toyota, though.....assuming, since I can't find one anywhere that'll do any, anyway.

Hey I'm still going where ever I can with my Toy axle on front of Tencha .. I know it's not bulletproof but I'm proud she's all Toyota ..

I forgot about this thread.
Like Landtank I'm a fan of the hi pinion. I'm thinking of having mine cryo'd.

I'd cryo the housing, if it'd fit in the freezer. Haha.

Robbie was a fan of so everything was cryo'd, but can't say specifically what strength gains in the 8" front can be expected.

Do know that we've a local running test subject, though.

Very few miles to speak of with 5.29s.

Same R&P was cryo'd locally, and should be back in by the weekend, ready to wheel.

Not the best case study since, odds are, avoidance of similar situation that chewed the previous up is the goal, but guess if a major failure is sustained early on, it could provide some real life data on treatment benefits.

Know I'd like to see some form of pinion guard if my tie rod goes up front, an effort at bullet resistant. I'm, by far, not the most graceful at tiptoeing through the rock garden.

You have a minitruck front diff in a fat bastard truck. Aint gonna last boy!

Believe, me I tried. Eventually you will either go big or go home broke($'s and parts) everytime.

Exactly!

And FWIW... I've compared the birfield ball on the 80-series longfield with the D60 RCV ball... same size. I realize the shaft is thicker on the D60 though... but I REALLY want to compare the internals of the two with one out of the axle and see if it's a similar race and crown in there... but I think it is.

Delancy is like a woman, you tell him one thing, it gets processed and what comes out of his mouth is not even remotely close to the original statement. He will still proceed on course, realize the errors of his ways and will have already spent more money trying to polish a turd rather than doing it right in the first place

 Between Delancy and NLX builds I doubt I'll see either meet their criteria of happy.

fat bastard truck.

I'm hurt.

I know portly or big boned accurately describes, but ***?

That's just kickin' a man while he's down. Haha.

Left to my own devices, I have the biggest POS already (some aspects...important ones) and spared no expense.

I'm not qualified to make these decisions, as history proves.

Hey hey hey. I'm pretty happy at the moment. Just need to finish what I started on this build. So far no issues to report but....

The truck fits in my wife's parking garage!!!!!!!

It touches the very edge of the OEM roof rack rails. Just barely. If I put an extra bottle of water in the back it should clear no problem :flipoff2:

That being said? The truck will only fit into one of three spots so it means she will need to leave for work earlier :meh:
