What bender did you get? I was eyeing the JD2 model 3 manual version.

I ended up with the model 32, was stuck between that and Pro tools. Lots of god reviews on the JD2 stuff.
Finishing cup 1 this morning and gonna drink cup 2 then I'm getting started.
I hope this is the start in a long line of builds. I really hate wearing khakis.

This the schedule 40 pipe I'm using for my racks.
Plate I'm using for the webs and rain gutter mounting points on the rack.
Make sure you clean off the edge where you'll be welding, if not your weld will build up and you wont have good penetration. And always chamfer the edges of any joint you can.
Pipe notched and edges cleaned up with grinder
Fitment
Ordered some light tabs from Gamiviti
Main hoops will be one continuous piece of pipe. Radius bends will be 4.5" so fairly tight.
All joints are notched and fully welded. As you can see there gonna be very tight.
Stay tuned for more.

Tubing bender is due to be here tomorrow.. cant wait. I love getting new tools!! Toys for big boys right.
Also I talked the wife into letting put up a 3000 sq ft. building out back for me to have a real shop to do my work. I'll be able to add on if needed with the way I have it designed.
Were getting a new race track built about a mile from my house thats gonna have a hotel and a Summit store!!!! I'm hoping that I can siphon some repair and custom work from that.
Also bought a plasma cutter yesterday from a guy on Craigslist. So that should smooth out my plate cuts considerably.
I'm going all out on this venture. I was a general contractor for 15 years and then moved up to a project manager for another company. I've come to the conclusion that I cant work for someone else, its just not possible. Guess I'm spoiled. But all the while growing up and through the years I've been welding and fabricating. Started with my step Dad and Grandpa. We build many a trucks and equipment for the business. I have a passion for this type of work and really enjoy it, except for grinding...
Anyway back to your scheduled programming.

Like the direction this is going. I've been thinking about a rack that could somehow incorporate a solar panel in a secure way...definitely would need to be a custom thing and way out of my wheel house of skills.

Thank you sir, if you have sketch or drawing of the design or need a design let me know. The skies the limit as far as design goes. I really appreciate the support you guys are showing me, its encouraging.
I just designed some foot treads for on the hood. These will give additional support as our hoods are flimsy and also texture for sure footed retrieval of items up front on your racks. Will post some pics and ask opinions on price if anyone wants some.
Thanks. Thinking about something like this and/or a smaller panel at the front that would double as a wind break. Let me formulate my thoughts and then I'll PM you...
